We all know the story of the Japanese Tiger that was never sent, but it was not the only equipment not sent, that is why I suggest in a mini-event like the one held by Thompson to bring two weapons that came from Germany also to Japan the MP 44 (the assault rifle) of which 6 were purchased:
Note from Russian Web (Translation and I am still not sure about if it’s true)
A report on submarine shipments to Japan, prepared by an American commission in 1946-1947, is said to exist. According to the report, there are samples of German-made weapons, such as the MP-40, the G-43, and the Panzerschreck, however I am not able to find info about this, if anyone can help I would be grateful, also including a japan web with the whole documents
I think it could be interesting because Germany did try to share some technology with Japan. But then I think it will be controversial to have Japanese Tigers and such around the Pacific
I think they should’ve done a special event with these German-Japanese equipment so we could see how it works out
Because it is at least somewhat different from the US ones. Plus, they were actually bought by the japanese and given to them before the war. Oh and I never said I was particularly happy about them either.
Giving the Japs STGs would be just lazy copy paste (just like giving the US the Ofenrhor btw). Japan does not even have a TT assault rifle even though there are some proposal for one.
In the german documents linked I only saw 2 times purchases for MP 44 (one for 6 and another for 9)
but nothing about a g43,MP 40 or Panzerschreck ( those might still be in the JP portion but I cant read that).
The german purchases also include 6000 rounds of MP 43 ammo each so nothing special but it looks like Japan also got a lot of machining tools on the rest of the barely readable pages.
Did not see anything about those.
The closest thing to that what I found was “Zielschleifkopf” but that is just a precision grinding tool head.
But I only skimmed it as 60% of the documents where ilegible due to beeing bad copies.
So given how the last pages where just diffrent kind of machining tools I doubt that it actually was a scope beeing mentioned on those.
So the things that are certain to me after reading the german parts
Japan bought 15 MP 44 (STG 44) total, one purchase of 6 and another for 9.
They also got 6000 rounds of ammo with each purchase
They also got some amounts of machining tools so they might maybe possibly be able repoduce them in secret but it more likely was just those needed to maintain the guns as reproduction was requireing special permition from the german producer.
Again, they are at least different from just copy and paste, you cannot find them in any other TT.
What’s the point for me to grind the Japanese TT if at the end, I just end-up using german guns or Tanks ? IF you want to play STG-44 and Tiger, why not just playing Germany ? When I am playing Japanese it is because I want to play stuff from Japan, or at least something original
Why not giving me American King Tiger ? British/French/Soviet Panther ? Or even American and Soviet STG (they probably captured more of them than the japanese even bought anyway). I mean at these point just copy and paste every single weapons to every TT or event
i mean, nothing german is ever being added to the tech tree lol
giving them an event squad with STGs (assuming they were officially purchased and shipped from germany), would be the same as the USSR event squad using thompson machine guns, except nobody ever complains about the USSR borrowing some tommy guns
japan has no br5 assaulter weapons at all, and the only option i could ever see being added is the 6.5x30mm type 2 SMG, and even then its not really that ideal having 1 option in total
maybe if japan ever gets assaulter engineers like GE or USSR, their purchased equipment from germany could be used, would make them limited and rare, you wouldnt be fighting STG spam if its 1 squad per player that is limited by an event
