Improving the system of skins within the game

This suggestion is related to the newest “Cold Steel” event and the 2 copies of a “White MP40” we will receive.

I think it would be well worth for the developers to put time into allowing skins to go over weapons, rather than receiving an entirely new gun. This would also make it easier for balance adjustments in the future, not having to change every single different version of a gun, just the base weapon, anyway. People receiving the blood skins from the veterans boxes is a bit of a slap in the face to be honest. I’ll happily take the White MP40 of course, its not a “bad thing” I suppose. But Weapon skins are not really that flashy or cool in their current state. An MP40 with a bit of white, an StG with a bit of blood, compared to skins we see in other games.

My suggestions that I think would make the devs a LOT of money:

  1. Firstly, adding an option to “disable non-historical skins” so that the HA crowd don’t go demented over a video game. This would only mean that they do not see the white mp40, or the blood guns, or any of the future skins

  2. Selling weapon skins that go over our current guns. And not just one copy of a skin. If I buy a cool T20 skin I want to be able to put it on every single soldier I have. Having a limited number of them is such a missed opportunity and I think the devs really are making mistakes by limiting everything cool to numbers of 4 or 6 (Stuff like previous GO weapons for example)

  3. Skins could of course come in Battlepasses, events, veterans box, but mainly selling a skin for gold. I think a lot of people would pay like 800 - 1600 gold for a cool skin that they can apply to as many guns as they want.

  4. Adding a weapon inspect feature for in game play. You don’t really get to see “much” of your white MP40 or bloody StG, since you cant “look at it” in gameplay. This is a major thing that all games with skins have, and it gives people a reason to buy the skins, they get to look at them and admire them. Look at how simple it needs to be too, just a way to look at all parts of the gun. This would also be nice just for the guns in the game in general, as the models are quite well done and its a shame we don’t get a good look at them.

  1. Much more effort into designing the skins. Why is this just a White MP40? Why not also add the leather straps that we see the guy in the portrait using? That would make the skin so much more interesting and feel like “higher effort”. Changing the texture from grey steel to slightly snowed on steel is really not that difficult to do, doesnt take a lot of time, and isnt very high effort. You have to consider that people can tell the recent portraits for Enlisted & WT are all AI generated, and people are rightly calling this out as “low effort AI slop”.

I’m not saying this White MP40 is complete slop, but it isnt exactly groundbreaking either. I hope that the devs can take this as pure feedback for the game, and not outright criticism. Its impossible to please this playerbase (I love the Japan-USSR event but everyone is complaining about every aspect of it, hard to make this playerbase happy  )

For reference:
Look at these skins in Battlebit Remastered. I know the artist that makes these, he is the sole 3d-modeller for the game and he can whip these up in such a short amount of time (he’s very skilled, not to say its easy or quick to make these) but its not that difficult to make some cool concepts that accentuate the weapon without going complete “space age” weapon skins that wouldn’t fit in Enlisteds art style

I don’t think weapon skins are a remotely good idea and should not be prioritized when we don’t even have the most basic of squad customization features. Uniforms are extremely limited, especially for sub factions (italians in german uniforms), and the nationality change feature is essentially meaningless since you cannot change squad uniforms. Adding weapon skins when you can’t even have italian assaulters or british riflemen and are forced to use shermans in british squads, etc etc (unless you grinded out a campaign 2 years ago) is nothing short of ridiculous and a cheap cash grab

I do agree a cosmetic filter - as promised - should be added for halloween tanks and weapon skins

Wait… shouldn’t we try to just try to completely avoid this? I mean this some Fortnite CoD stuff, weapon skins?!? Yeah I think we should avoid this as a whole and focus on adding new weapons instead of reskins, no hate though

Adding weapon skins would give whales and players who enjoy cosmetics (I know millions of them exist since everyone is constantly talking about uniforms) something more to collect, admire, and use. The people making the skins are not the same people creating new guns or content for the game.

It would only be a positive for the game, since the game can make more money by allowing people to purchase cool skins. And as I suggested, simply include an option in the game to disable seeing those, for anyone that doesn’t want to see that, they can just opt out. This harms nobody.

Cool skins could be 3D styles for iconic weapons, such as a grizzled veterans M1 Garand in the Pacific, covered in bushes and twigs and trees to help blending into the jungle environment. They can be simple but cool

Like in BF5 where you can spend some money to get a M1 garand with green and yellow leaves and an unhistorical outfit

Before adding new types of customization entirely, I really think the existing cosmetic system should be improved upon. It’s in a very sorry state as is, and I’d rather see uniform customization improved - given you control an entire squad I’d say that it’s more important in this game than other FPS games that focus on weapon skins

Then you should make a suggestion thread about it :stuck_out_tongue:

Adding gun skins doesnt mean devs cant also improve other systems
Cosmetics are one of the biggest money makers in gaming right now, so I don’t understand why the devs don’t capitalise on that
