In the “Jet Power” update, among many other changes, we are going to revise the matchmaker rules, reducing the Battle Rating spread between opponents. We have taken your feedback and suggestions into account and we are making some adjustments that you’ve been long asking for!
After analyzing our statistics, we came to a conclusion that we can separate players with BR III weapons and vehicles from BR V players, which will allow the matchmaker to create more balanced battles. For the USA, Germany and the USSR, the BR III-V matchmaking queues will be removed, this means that only BR I-II, II-III, III-IV and IV-V queues will remain. Meanwhile for Japan, the BR III-V queues will be replaced with BR IV-V queues.
Once the adjustments are live, we will closely monitor the statistics. Matchmaking depends on a number of factors that are difficult to predict, such as the distribution of players between nations. For this reason, we may make additional changes to the number of queues and the BR brackets in the future if necessary.

For avoidance of doubt, Japan’s new queues will (for now) be BR I-II, II-III and IV-V.
I know what I will now do - play so much Japan BR IV that it becomes the new BR V.

So BR III japanese will always be downtiered ? That seems kinda cheesy…

A compromise we hope most players can agree to. With the recent BR equipment/weaponry changes, it helps a bit here too. There is also, as noted by player feedback, not too much of note in BR IV for Japan just yet (especially now after some things moved away from it in recent news), so the effects of this should be minimal, and when Japan’s tech tree is filled out a bit more I’m sure this will all be revisited.

I sure hope in the next event we get an event vehicle or more an additional APC for the USSR and the Japs, cause last time it did happen, USA and Germans only had it

i hope this doesn’t mean waiting forever to get a match as br5 japan , you can already wait for like 3 minutes or more to get a match with current rules
other than that it’s a great change
Their BR2 weapons are so strong that BR3 doesn’t feel like as a much of an improvement. At least now i will be able to pick some of my fav weapons and vehicles without worrying about BR5

Are there going to be more changes to BR equipment in the near future? There’s still some things out of place (mostly tanks and planes) StuGs need a downtier and the Firefly and Achilles. BF109s should shift down one too.
