I propose to replace the Enlisted artist with a neural network

you see problem with AI drawn art… i just asked it to draw me a hitler and it showed me this
image

this is travesty to art…

I also did it at your request, here is my promt and the results
Hitler of World War, portrait, warrior, comic book style

Surprisingly, even neural networks need to be able to use

Here’s another Stalin for you. A minute of work. To bring it to the desired state, it remains to process it in Photoshop. At the same time, I show all the options that turned out at once. The time of artists has passed, the incompetent will look for a new job, only professionals will remain.

I updated the drawings I made, one day passed and here is the result.

Can an artist make such progress?

Well, and a couple of similar ones

im willing bet people would make offensive avatars

man, why do Germans always look like the bad guys?

How hard can it be to have a smiling happy SS Obersturmbannführer for once?

game is pretty biased.

From someone who is an artist and have a history with artifical intelligence, I would only deem this to be a good idea if and ONLY IF the current artist employed for darkflow uses a custom training model built from the ground up using ONLY their source files and reference sheets.

This is to ensure 100% rights to anything the AI model would generate using assets from the artist. It is also morally in the area of acceptance of using AI as a tool than using it as a scapegoat using this method.

I do it for visuals for music, taking parts of myself and morphing it with AI, to make interesting results with the same prefabs. If the enlisted artist wanted to do this, it could spice things up with more icons per events, but it may annoy people from the FOMO it would generate.

TLDR: If not using a custom model to make your AI artwork, it is borderline unacceptable.

This suggestion sound like “I don’t like the art style, therefore Dardflow please shitcan the artist. I am better than the artist hired by you.”

If you don’t like something make a constructive criticism, explain why it need to be changed, or that any tradeoff brought by the change will be worth it. Unprovoked personal attacks make anybody come across as a smug person.

I agree completely.
If, as you say, Darkflow only inputs their owned and entitled learning assets into the AI and has it assist the exclusive artist, that’s generally a good thing. But the man who started this thread has a different agenda, and he is asking for a giveaway of something stolen from an unspecified artist. This is categorically unacceptable.

The arguments for and against AI image generation being discussed on the Internet are not essentially about judging the existence of AI itself. The point of discussion should be about how humans use it. But sadly, in the AI debate, the essence of the issue is always blurred and talked about.
I hate people who steal other people’s art and use AI to pretend to be artists.
They respond to their critics as follows

“But the AI-generated images look great.”

“You’re criticizing the advancement of technology.”

“Human artists use computers to paint.”

They deliberately deflect the issue to hide their own theft.
In this way, the essence of the problem is blurred, and the context of using AI itself is criticized in the world.

Although these new iterations of yours look better than previous ones imo (less cartoonish), their quality doesn’t really change the core of the matter.

Personal taste on profile pictures and AI are two different matters of discussion, and switching from hand drawn to AI wouldn’t necessarily be an improvement.

This said,

Since profile pictures are likely to remain a monetized part of the game in the foreseeable future, there’s no reason why the creator(s) should be prevented from exploiting AI to enhance the final creations.

What I’m thinking about is either each new picture being available in three or four slightly different versions to choose from, or maybe even animated PFPs.

To do this, the developers need to establish a visual style. Players will make avatars, developers will choose the best of them and insert them into the game, those whose avatars will get into the game will be rewarded in game currency.

What’s the point? Did the artist create the drawing anew? Did he invent brushes, paper, the basic sciences of drawing? The artist also studied, only slowly, he looked at the drawings of other artists and adopted their experience, partially copied their images. The neural network does the same thing, but faster and better))) It’s like a camera, it didn’t destroy the artists, but it took away part of the earnings, it will be the same now))

The artist enlisted made only about forty avatars in two years, only two of this quantity are of acceptable quality. I am not calling for this artist to be kicked out, although he is clearly not coping, giving out a hack as a result. Instead, I suggest that developers set the theme and control the quality of the user’s avatars, and then issue these avatars or sell them in the game, as well as reward those who made these avatars.

Artists also steal someone else’s art, they also copy partially or completely the style of other artists, use their techniques. So there is no need for extra morality, neural networks do the same thing as an artist, but they do it better and at the same time everyone can use them, they work faster and get better and better every day. Adapt or die out, nothing personal.

I just want the players to have the opportunity to choose a good, high-quality result. And if there is a clear criterion for the quality of the drawing, I don’t care what it will be drawn with. In pencil, in paint, in a neural network.

You speak of learning over a long period of time by man and copying by machine as the same thing, but it is childish sophistry.
This is the lie that these thieves keep spewing on the internet to hide their crimes.
Your foolish ideas are being rejected by society.

And what does that mean? That the generated avatar can be used by another? So what? There will be such an avatar in the game, someone on the Internet can put it in their profile, what will it change?)

Fair, but remember that quality ≠ personal taste.
