It seems loud enough to me, personally. I can hear that ping most of the time when I am close.
They might want to , once this is out of beta, allow for more fine tuning of volume levels. That can be the only improvement to sounds I can think of.

I’ve owned garands, that “ping!” is barely audible over gunfire, if at all. I think it’s fine as it is.

Yeah, it’s fine and if you want it louder, get a better or louder audio setup. If anything, artillery is too quiet in comparison to all of the other noises. That and aircraft.
Do you really want nearby enemies to know that you have zero bullets in your mag and are about to reload?

all it does is let someone know an American with a Garand is nearby, which may or may not be helpful at all.
