Because it reduces the technical abilities of the devs especially in terms of engine for something that is severely outdated and less and less people use to play games.
The games enigine is outdated not the old gen consoles. Suppose makes it harder to push the new engine forward. Purely a business decison. Not a technical one

I dont have an xbox so i dont know. I have a Ps4 probably worse than xbox one. Still prevents people like me from playing. Forcing me to upgrade.

Both sides are overreacting - ever since Alpha the devs had problems keeping up with their schedules, so this is in no way “new” and does not deserve this amount of negativity.
That being said, to claim it doesn’t matter is also nonsense, a mistake is a mistake and obviously shines bad light on the entire game.
These scenarios have consequences, and the success of the game can be damaged with such mistakes - which ultimately is not in our interest.

No offence, but more unexpected delays deserve more compensation. That is the point.
