I don’t even use anymore paratrooper, they feel almost pointless if you are the only one doing it, after all those nerf on the drop speed, in my opinion now paratrooper are effective if 2 or 3 players drop at the same time
they are effective, you just need to know when and where to drop. i like to use them for dropping behind cap or on flanks to clear enemy rally points and then go into cap.
The new low Br Beretta squad is even in my BR3 line up, that gun is good, they can even compete when uptiered… paras are not for dropping on point, unless you are trying to save a cap (Very rarely! Due to drop time)
As people have said I can drop chose engineer, build a flanking rally to avoid the funnel of death where people spawn and just run at objective with enemy tanks mowing them down.
Yeah, effective only in attacker team and if you are not playing against competent team.
If you are playing against competent team that is constantly hunting your rally points/APCs, you don’t really have time to waste with paratroopers. Especially if you are 1 of 2 people building rally points in your own team.
You still need to make sure your team’s bodies can get to objective. And simply bypassing the enemy team won’t help. You’ll never get backup. And it doesn’t matter that you destroyed a few rally points for a while. You’ll still be alone on the objective. And often your team is hardly competent enough to fight their way to the objective on their own.
Paras are not effective against good team. They’re just fun if you are playing against less compentent team than is yours. As every non meta gimmicky classes usually are.
But they’re not class that could carry your team. You just can’t react fast enough with them, you are missing out on bodies on battlefield, You’re relying on not catching the attention of a good player while gliding with parachute.
Assaulter, APC, rifleman, radioman and engineer squads are still more effective/meta than paras.
I find them very useful. Mostly as attackers. And it depends on the maps.
City maps are great for paratroopers. I like to land them on top of a building and make them infiltrate the area top down. And sometimes I can sneak up behind the defenders concentrating on the main attack wave in front of them. An then bäääm MF…Muahahaha.
But of course if the defenders are experienced players this maneuvre is difficult.
And then there is the option to land on a rear flank and build rally points there. So the attackers can attack from the rear flanks which can help to put more pressure on the enemy defenders.
But again experienced players will be aware of this.
Paratroopers got nerfed too much, so they’re not very effective compared to a regular squad of the same amount of troops.
But they would be fine IF they had a larger grey zone. A bit like for the new commando class, but not as large.
Right now when you drop, even on the flanks of a freshly opened cap zone… the ground troops are ALREADY there before paratroopers (they spawn AND run faster than paratroopers can reach the ground)… thus negating the usefulness of them.
A gimmick only fun to use, to provide support on very rare spots where you can drop on high roof…
I never use Paras - probably only spawned them in like 10 times in total, I hate the idea of them.
Also never used a single Guerilla squad yet.
… and funnily enough, I play since beta and I have never touched Mortars, not even once.
There are so many squads to use, and I like to stick to the basics.
Really?
It’s a great squad when upgraded. Both the early and late squads.
Sure, they’re situational but they can be devastating and a good balance swinger if you land them right. They work best as an attacker in Invasion maps, but they can really swing the tide of any battle.
And the squad itself has some good options to make them a half-decent allrounder. Kinda like the Rifleman version of the Medic squad. As in, a cheap Rifleman squad.
I definitely recommend giving them some love.
Im running 0 paratroopers, are the devs planning on addig TT ones for us newbie plebs ?
