I would like to talk about an issue that I think I and the other players can agree that has been going on for way too long. And that Issue being tanks players that camp in an area that most of the time is grey for the player.
I myself just finished a match in battle of Berlin and on the last objective, my team had to deal with 2 enemy tanks that were camping the objective in an area that was the grey zone for my team. our tanks and my bazooka couldn’t do anything to them because one of them had armour that was too strong to penetrate, the best way for me to destroy enemy tanks is to use TNT because with TNT all you need to do is get to the enemy tank, climb it, place the charge on the very top, get off and detonate. However, what I assume is happening with tank users now is that players know that TNT can destroy any tank no matter the level or armour (chances of success when I use this strategy : 9/10) intentionally stay in the grey zone because:
It grant easy kills (Obviously)
It prevents anyone sneaky enough (like me) from climbing them, planing the charge, getting off and activating the detonator (Or what I prefer doing is just kamikaze my soldier with the tank to prevent getting killed by the enemy).
In my opinion this can be easily balanced by the devs themselves and here’s how:
Have every tank that’s being played in the match be observed by the game itself, if a tank is found to be staying in one position which just happens to be the grey area for the opposing team for let’s say something like 30 seconds, have the said tank crew player get something like a 15 second warning to move into the main battle zone (area that is not grey for the opposing team). if the tank continues to stay in the same area or doesn’t move from the area at all (which is the grey zone for the opposing team making it nearly impossible for the tank in question to be destroyed by using something like TNT) or has not moved out of the grey zone enough for the said 15 seconds, then the tank in question is destroyed by the game marking it as a desertion and forcing the player to respawn as a different squad.
This is just something that I would think help balance or even remove the issue of grey area camping tanks. I wouldn’t mind hearing from the community itself if you guys think that this would be a good balancing feature for grey area camping tanks.
I hate the grey zone concept and personally don’t think their should be one in the game. However, it ain’t gonna change any time soon, if ever, so instead of getting pissed about it, people need to change, adapt and overcome the way they play. Yeah, it sucks that people exploit the grey zone, but who can blame them, it’s like getting a “get out of jail” free card and not expecting people to break the law.
If you can’t get to the tanks on foot or with a Bazooka, then you need to learn to be proficient in a plane, which is what I did and probably 90% of my tank kills are done from the seat of one of my airplanes.
Lots of issues with the game that I complain about, and DF is great about discussing them, just not fixing them.
I’m not the Big fan of grey zone camp for my part I do it as rarely as I can but playing tank in aggressive/ close infantry support way is really hard, if you have a blind team you can’t… and to take his defense inf player has way too many options too destroy them if they don’t stay grey zone.
INF has explo pack, tnt on all and AT launcher on mostly all squad (not talking about the fact we can carry X panzerfaust and the number of rocket carried). It way too much for starting player in tank by the way (shitty tank with the overheat and all inf can rekt them )
The only "quick"option to kill them in grey zone is the plane
using planes would be more enticing if they add a way to safely exit the vehicle and cycle back to your infantry squads. i don’t want to be forced playing as plane after i destroyed the tank when bodies are badly needed in cap and i don’t want to waste ticket by ramming the plane.
shame they added ofenrohrs instead of super bazookas because sometimes people just really don’t want to use out of place weapons especially if said weapon is so iconic to germany.
You just need to land the plane and your tickets will not be wasted.
If you have sufficient skill, this can be done fairly quickly.
A little tip for you: Before you start complaining about something. I better make sure it’s not in the game already.
Btw.
This is quite amusing. I wouldn’t expect to see something like that coming from someone who’s constantly lobbying for ultra small 2-3 men squads.
You will definitely change a lot on objective with such high amount of bodies.
Huh? I read most of the posts on this forum. And when I see utter nonsense, I always try to point it out.
You literally complained about game lacking something that’s already there.
I won’t even comment on your insults.
No, they indeed doesn’t need to have 2-3 soldiers. Majority of players do know how to command their squad.
So if they need to be evasive, they just park their bots soldiers away for a while.
It’s always good to have more of free quick respawns and more engineers and specialists in squad.
I just bail out when I want out of the plane. Some people Kamakazi into the target, but I don’t because for some reason when I have done this I NEVER get any kills, just my own. So, if I am not getting any ariel kills, or my plane is damaged to the point its more work just keeping it airborne, I bail out. That’s nice if your in the Ju-188 because you have a crew of five, and if they all survive you have a paratrooper squad.
ah yes, if its defending and I’ve exhausted all efforts to destroy the greyzoner i just fire up my Ju 87 R2 and planted my 500kg bomb to the commander’s forehead lol! but i feel very scummy afterwards and I’d be mad as hell too if i was on the receiving side
The Gray Zone is the final line of defense used to protect infantry and tanks.
This is why the gray zone on most maps is even limited to around 50 meters from the capture point (because the intelligence of suicide infantry is not enough to protect them how far they go)
at the same time
Gray zone camping is never a scary thing
You just need to use a little more brains and take responsibility for your choices to deal with campers easily.
Based on your speech and the time you entered the forum
I think the tank you are talking about is probably KV1
Is the tank you use N3?
Maybe you should try using a long barrel 50 tank like Cougar
German level 2 anti-tank weapons perform really poorly
Maybe you should try to make up for the lack of firepower with an engineer anti-tank gun or
Or use smoke and terrain to increase your chance of survival.
