I would have no problem if we could do all that but my only problem is with the Jack of all trades explosive pack
I love TNT, I was hesitant to spend silver orders (wow feel old saying that) on it when it first came out since I was so used to using explosive packs, flash forward to now where my go to method to destroying tanks is climbing on top of the turret to place TNT on the commanders hatch. Finally convinced me to swap out my explosive packs for grenades.
Exactly. It’s just as effective though a bit more dangerous. And I’d say it’s much more fun.
Personally I almost haven’t used explosive packs since the merge (exception being my MG gunner as he uses AP mine). I just don’t need to, I have: TNT, AT rifles/launchers, AT cannons, AT rifle grenades (a bit dirty) and finally tanks and planes. Ppl who say EPs are essential don’t know a damn. They are convenient, too convenient, but not essential.
(For record, I have exactly one AT soldier and one engineer squad in my lineup. For all those “hur dur I won’t have AT stuff when I need it” ppl.)
Same, only guys I have equipped with Explosive packs are my AT guys throughout my different squads
I can not tell you how much fun I’ve had crawling under tanks, placing a TNT, and just suiciding, it’s especially gratifying when it’s done against a greyzone camper. Way more fun than just hucking an explosive pack under it.
I also have them on my AT guy, I use it so often forgot
Personally I always try to run away. I like to save my lives even though it’s pointless.
Also it has a bit of a movie, running from explosion vibe.
(Love this gif)
It would be nice to be able to throw an Explosive Pack 50 meters. I probably don’t need an AT on my team, and using an Explosive Pack can destroy heavily armored tanks. You have to throw it to the side or above, and the Explosive Pack takes a higher skill than the AT to use.
Getting blown to bits when pushing up is fine if its done by an AT weapon, as that actually requires an AT soldier, but when its nearly the ONLY grenade that people carry on ALL their units, because it gives ALL soldiers the ability to kill tanks with ease, then there is a problem.
Tanks should be an actual challenge to overcome by infantry, not just free points by throwing a grenade in their direction.
THIS is 100% my point.
I need to see some video evidence as I have never seen this happen.
this point makes a lot of sense to me
I could get on board with this. I’d prefer to see them gone.
No thanks. They are in a good place right now.
Yeah, they’re not very effective right now.
I think they’re a bit weak but probably should stay that way.
Meh. I don’t care either way.
Agreed.
Jack of all trades? They can destroy tanks and structures pretty well but some of the heaviest tanks aren’t completely to get sometimes.
They kill infantry but not nearly as effectively as frag grenades.
They don’t make smoke.
They don’t make poison gas.
They don’t start fires.
They seem like a jack of pretty much one trade.
I’ll wait here for the overwhelming evidence that being a tanker in Enlisted is scuffed.
The day that tank slots aren’t constantly filled.
The day that tankers aren’t most often at the top of the leaderboard.
The day that one tank can’t dramatically alter or control a battle.
Making it harder to kill tanks will break things.
Trying to force people to use AT is not a worthwhile venture. Most AT isn’t very effective against heavy tanks, particularly in the hands of average players. As to the notion we should damage tanks by going after tracks and then fight… yeah, that’s fine sometimes but if that’s THE only way for most people to deal with tanks then take repair kits away or cut their uses down dramatically.
Tanks don’t need help.
Implementing all of that is impossible, so the devs condensed all of that into the det pack. And honestly, it’s better this way.
If you honestly believe that then how the hell did they even get the vehicle repair mechanic functioning
Shameless thread promotion time
I’m in favor of just reducing the throwing range of explosive packs to something like 10-15m
What an infantryman can do to damage or destroy a tank out of position is limited only by his imagination. If they went down this route, it would be a neverending stream of requests for something else to be added to this mechanic, which would be a constant drain on the devs resources. Meanwhile fixing something requires significantly less creativity as you have to do it the right way. That one was a one and done addition.
We can make it so you can use the wrench to do some damage to tank components or hammer or shove some mud into some of the viewports on tanks.
That is still minimizing everything that an infantryman can do to a tank, and the devs would be flooded with requests to be able to shoot shoot into the engine deck, pull the pins from tracka and whatnot. The det pack is a significantly better representation of this aspect of tank combat because it’s all of that combined into one.
