Today i was playing Tunisia with allies. (Invasion mode, Axis attack)
They captured 3 points, which was very surprising to me. They finally lost at 4th point, but around 10 seconds before the end of game, i saw a incoming enemy plane. I shoot with my rifle at it, just for fun, and it unexpectedly fell and crashed, and I got a text that I killed the enemy pilot (380 points reward)
Have you experienced something like that? could it be a bug?

That’s completely normal. The last person who damged plane will get a kill after it crashes.

Yep. It’s always worth trying to put one or two bullets into a low flying enemy plane, it’s free points if it crashes.

You could have damaged the plating or something else. Since you were the last player to damage him, it’s up to you to get the reward from it.

Believe it or not I shot the wing off a plane with a KAR98. Normally I aim for the cockpit 
I think it is possible to destroy an aircraft with a single rifle shot . It is easier to destroy an aircraft with machine gun or assault rifle, but bolt action rifles are also possible. The plane does not need to be damaged.

I shot a pilot with a sniper rifle as he was diving towards me, very lucky shot.

I have not yet managed to shoot down an airplane with a pistol, a barrel grenade launcher, a properly cooked grenade, a PIATA and an M1 and M9 Bazooka.
It would be nice to have achievements like this in the game.

Nice! those are my favorite kills. I’d argue some of the infantry weapons are the best AA right now. I like to shoot their way a few times and they will turn and fly to you and line up to fly into some lmg bullets. I’m still trying to get one with a shotgun as my personal goal, but the type 97 AT rifle is still my favorite for shooting at them.
I took a pot shot with a carcano and domed the pilot of a dauntless that was coming right at me once. Only ever happened once so it was a highlight moment for me. In the pacific, you can trickshot seagulls with pistols, so there is that.
rifles can damage and even destroy planes flying low to a point that certain designs requiring planes to fly low were rejected
I always open fire on every low flying enemy plane.
Easy to get a nice kill especially with suiciders.
I rarely (never) hit the pilot.
Still trying to get some special kills…
Recently I acchieved a kill with the W.A.R. on a suicider.

Currently missing only an aircraft kill with the flamethrower. I guess my best chances are in the Pacific.
Besides: always but always open fire on low flying aircrafts. You will be shocked how often you get credited.

Yeah last person to hit gets the kill on a crash. Usually they go straight in and suicide bomb so I always mag dump when that happens.
I’ve gotten aircraft kills with bolt actions, SMG’s, pistols and surprisingly not with LMG’s yet.

With LMG I have kills with BAR, WAR, MG34 and ZB26.
Also many rifles, HMG and SMG and tank MG.
I still want all of these too:
Oh yeah, I’ve also bombed one. He dove a bit too low right after me I suppose.
Having said that, I too have been bombed by other aircraft.
I’ve shot down and been shot down by all the craziest things but not once…not freakin’ once…did my tail gunner EVER do anything useful…
