Gewehr 41 buff

Hello bajtársak and fellow forumdwellers,

The Gewehr 41 is now the weakest BR3 semi-auto rifle, the 4.8s long reload of the G41 is very painful especially if you consider that:
SVT-38 reload: 2.6s
Type 4 rifle reload: 4s
M1 Garand reload: 2.9s

I suggest that Gewehr 41
Reload is buffed 4.8s → 4.2s
Damage is buffed 14.4 → 15.1

I think the reload speed buff obvious, but the damage increase may not be so I will explain why higher damage will help:
A soldier has 20 HP
10 “normal” HP (can be increased with vitality perk to 13.5 HP)
10 HP in downed state, however down state is chance based and maybe skipped with the soldier dying instantly, the higher the damage dealt to the soldier the higher the chance for him to die instantly.
So by increasing the damage to 15.1, the G41 will kill enemies with 1 shot more often rather than 1 shot to down and another to finish off, thus it will have to be reloaded less often.

Damage comparison:
SVT-38 damage: 14.4
Type 4 rifle damage: 14.9
M1 Garand damage: 15.3

This way SVT-38 will have the least damage, but also the quickest reload
M1 Garand will have the highest damage but only has 8 round magazine instead of 10.
Type 4 will be similar to G41, but with faster reload and better recoil, with slightly less damage (due to smaller Arisaka round)

Everybody knows G41 is the worst (also rip poor and neglected Johnson m1941)
At this point, it has become an integral part of the enlisted experience, just like ppsh41 box’s dispersion.
Jokes aside, don’t think G41 will receive a buff. The devs will just release some experimental German br3 semi as rewards for the next BP, if it ever comes.

G43 should go down in BR to BR3. G41 should reload faster.

Just compare the damage with the new BR 2 semi auto for soviets.
BR 2 15.3
BR 3 14.4

What you are saying is mostly opinion based and has no real evidence to support claims.
I will agree that the Gewehr 41 has great sights and a comfortable recoil pattern you can learn.
But when you go and compare the real deal, -the gun stats- you will find that the Gewehr41 objectively has the worst stats out of all of the BR3 semi-automatic rifles.
you should take a look at the stats:

As you can see, the Gewehr41 has significantly slower reload than the Gewehr43 and less damage while its only advantage is having a bayonet (that has like 5% recoil buff).
But even when you compare the BR3 rifles, you will find that the Gewehr 41 has the slowest reload.
The Japanese Type 4 rifle which has the same dual clip reload is much faster than the G41 and it also deals more damage at the same time, with less recoil.

TL;DR: Even the Japanese Type 4 rifle is superior to the G41 in every way which why I suggested a slight buff so they are on par.

Or perhaps G41 could be lowered from BR 3 to 2 and G43 from BR 4 to 3?
Germany BR 2 lacks a German semi auto rifle.
There is only one Italian Armaguerra and my German soldiers refuse to use foreign stuff.

But I like the sound very much

I like it in general as well. But it’s true it’s the weakest semi atm (of br3).

I’d prefer it keeps it’s slower reloading speed but get a slight damage buff. Similar to G43.

But that’s just me :thinking:

Even with its terrible reload speed, the G41 is a BR3 rifle, it has the damage of BR3 rifles and a 10 round (fixed) magazine.
Besides if G41 was moved to BR2, every other faction would have their BR3 rifles moved to BR2 as well.

There are many 5 round German semi-auto rifles you could suggest to Dark Gaijin, but a subfaction not having an OP gun on that BR2 is not a reasonable argument especially when there are good alternatives such as the Mannlicher 1895

I’ll be happy with any German BR 2 semi auto.
The italian semi auto is no proper replacement for me and neither is the Austro-Hungarian bolt-action mannlicher.

Its an Austrian model, upgraded in the 30s.
These guns were actually used by the Wehrmacht.

12dmg + poor stripper clip reloads would fit very well into BR2

That would be such a waste of iconic weapons.

No, make it actually good. There’s no reason for it to leave BR3.

Other than BR2 mains wanting to even more overbloat the most bloated BR.
