in regards to the support positions on the planes the German guns do a ton more damage with than the Allies do and this is wildly inaccurate. The specs say the German planes are using 7.92mm (8mm Mauser) guns at each position, but the Allies are using 50 cal at each position. The 50 is a MUCH more powerful round than the 8mm, but when a German tailgunner hits the Allied planes it shreads them. However, when an Allied tail gunner hits a German plane it does minimal damage. This should be adjusted. I get the new update using explosive rounds and that allows the Germans to kill allied planes faster. OK, but the fact is that the 50 cal should be doing much more damage than they are. So the new update seems to be favoring the Germans over the Allies in Normandy but a lot, now. While I’ve learned to mostly out fly them the weapons are unbalanced especially when it comes support gunners. Food for the thought. This game is a RIOT to play! Graet job!
per hit , ya, maybe depending on the hit, and location, but the German guns are firing a lot faster, and depending on the plane it might be a twin MG 81 mount, so a lot more rounds down range, the 50 cal had a middling ROF for a ww2 aircraft gun, and inline engines were more prone to take damage faster than radials, The P 51 had something of a glass jaw
the JU 188 also had a couple 20 mm MG 151’s one in the top turret and one in the nose
you must have been pretty unlucky
i shot down a fuckton of bf 110’s and ju 188’s a few days ago with a p51 and the tailgunners didnt even scratch me.
it might have had something to do with my 50 cals shredding everything in an instant though so idk.
im just going to assume that you only play allies if you think 50 cals are underpowered. from my experience playing, 50 cals have by far the best range and reliable killing power of all aircraft guns in the game
The only time the rifle caliber MG turrets on any plane have killed me is when I get pilot sniped. It’s only happened twice to me.
You’re probably getting killed by ju 188 20mm cannons, they are pretty strong
Thanks for the info. I guess I shouldn’t complain too much since my average is about killing 3-4 German planes to every plane I’m shot down in. I’ll just keep my distance more.
Thanks for that! That helps me understand more. Like I responded to Brrady, from what I’m learning here I probably shouldn’t complain and I appreciate the clarifications. I TOTALLY understand getting hit by their front cannons. Tha’s almost instant death and I laugh almost every time. I was referring to the the turret guns, but given what you’ve all said I’ll send keep my distance a little more. I’m averaging a kill rate of about 3-4 Germans of any type to one of mine even with getting dinged up by their guns. It’s kind of fun gunning down a 109 in an A20. Hahahaha! I do it all the time.
