But that’s closer to reality, which is why it’s nice sometimes, with it’s different pace.
What I like the most in it is the social world: you must communicate. You can create funny stories and memories by larping a bit, what you can’t do in arcade games like Enlisted.
Like my first ever game:
(Usa recruits in transport truck, going to the front)
Random Sargeant: “So how’s the war for you, soldiers”
Conscript_Joe: “Meh, you know, not as comfortable as I thought. These transport seats are kinda cheap. Anyone got a soft cushion?”
Sargeant: “Standard issue cushions were in your regular equipment package, soldier. Never leave without it”
Conscript_Joe: “Ah bummer, I forgot mine…”
Then we disembarked and I discovered why mg42 fire was legendary in history.
You can’t have those slower but funny moments in Enlisted. It’s like fast food vs 5 service supper. You enjoy both. But they’re different.
Yeah, HLL is basically funny roleplay game with pretty boring and annoying gameplay. Especially if you’re the one first to die.
You are not playing HLL because it is good FPS game.
Eh, I dunno.
I’m rather patient and my first game wasn’t as disastrous as many players claim it is…
I found it way, WAY more thrilling than Enlisted where I just relax and spray (I know I’m strange to find that relaxing, but to me, anything I can switch my brain off, is relaxing)
Just hugging a stone wall in a city under fire, holding one’s breath and… HEARING ppl walking slowly, sneakily on the other side…
It’s an intense feeling. Because bullets are lethal and you got only one life (no bots) and you respawn. You don’t want to get shot. When I popped out the 3 German guys who decided to cross that stone wall, I was really gratified, much more than Enlisted where it’s so easy.
But then again, I played lots of slower, more realistic fps games before. Enlisted resemble games like arcade cod much more than Red Orchestra. I dare say Enlisted is even more arcade and faster paced than H&G was!
I like both styles. Both are fun in their respective fields.
(My experience)
When the enemy tank rolls meters from you, with deafening engine roar as you shit yourself hoping you don’t get spotted. It was a good first match
HLL was a dead game as soon as it came out because they never bothered to implement any type of bots. Games without bots or any type of offline mode have a very short lifespan, of maybe a few months after release. No one wants to play a WW2 game on maps that are 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 3, unless you are some COD loser.
Its the same reason Rising Storm: Vietnam died so predictably. You have nice maps that could be super fun but when the developers make a point not to program any bots for their game, basically all you can do is walk around the maps by yourself and imagine what a good game could have been made out of it all.
Meanwhile you can literally install Battlefield 1942 or Battlefield Vietnam today, and play the same way you did 20 years ago, cause the developers back then spent a small amount of time making an offline mode with bots. This meant the game you bought would be yours to play forever, instead of just for a few months after release until the community moves on and there are no servers left.
Been going on since 4 years already and as of today, there’s still so many players, that lobbies of 100 players get filled up in seconds. There’s countless full 100 players lobbies as well. Game is healthy as it can be.
Cute and all, but talking without knowing facts won’t get you very far, buddy.
HLL is a pretty fun experience, I think I’m preferring that change of pace. Different mindset going in and better team coordination in my opinion. The grandness of it is nice
