Fortifications borderline useless

Raised by others before but I’ll raise it again. Fortifications are borderline useless. Yes they do have some use in providing cover from direct fire and slightly slowing the enemy down, but they seem most effective in blocking both friendly and enemy bots who have a habit of getting stuck on everything. Simply put, fortifications are often not worth bothering about given how easily and frequently they get destroyed and how easily they get bypassed by players, it’s not worth risking yourself and all that time spent. Moreover, the game is still incredibly fickle and inconsistent with where you can place your fortifications.

Suggestions:

  • Speed of dismantling friendly or your own fortifications remains the same.
  • Speed of dismantling enemy fortifications should take slightly longer.
  • Enemy fortifications - especially barbed wire - should be dismantled piece-by-piece instead of the whole thing getting dismantled straight away. Perhaps this could also apply to gun emplacements and sandbag walls.
  • Sandbag walls shouldn’t be so easily destroyed by literally everything, and should be much more resistant to explosions. Destruction of the sandbag walls should also happen gradually - IE when it gets destroyed it happens slowly by pieces instead of disappearing all in one go.
  • Barbed wire should be more resistant to explosives including those from planes. When hit with a bomb the barbed wire should get all “messy” and go all over the place but still be there and functional.
  • Where you can place stuff shouldn’t be so fickle and inconsistent. If it’s a clear space you should be able to put it down, regardless of if the ground is slightly uneven.

They should bring back stacking, as TNT and grenades do destroy the fortifications, now we need stacking sandbags back!

In my opnion it is not quite useless to build fortifications but I agree that they can to easily be destroyed.

+1 here.

Have you tried Minecraft?

Idk, i still find fortifications useful in indoors for defensive role, they can make you a harder targed to hit. Also what can be more fun than building sandbag wall on top of staircaise and knifing/axing every enemy player climbing over it. Of course, not so fun if you must retake that place and as you said they’re easily destroyed by explosives but that’s ok. We also don’t want fortifications to be too OP.

I 1000% agree about this. This one devs could improve. Sometimes fully blocking some particular window/doors is such a chore that i just give up in the end.

A closed beta phenomenon no doubt? Do tell, what was stacking in this context? How did it work?

Stacking, well you could build sandbags on top of each other, so build very specific walls of sandbags, they even allowed you to have a rifle slot peep hole. Also barbed wire would stack so you could block an entire door.

It was removed as Normandy DDay engineers blocked the cap points and grenades and det packs didn’t work to clear it, but now grenades and detpacks are fixed against sandbags, maybe the Devs would bring back stacking?

@Keofox Hi, sorry big selling point of this game was fortifications, now TNT damage fixed can you devs please reinstate old fortification stacking?
