Forests of Brandenburg - Expanding the location

The “Forest Shadows” update will take you into the thickets of Brandenburg! The woodlands will surely help you cope with the heat of the summer.

New mission - Wald

The Battle of Seelow Heights took place in April 1945 and it played a major part in the encirclement of Berlin. We drew inspiration from these events and the unique landscape to create a new area for a large-scale confrontation between the German and Soviet forces, combining three distinctive sections: a dense forest, a heavily fortified outskirts and the streets of a mid-20th century German town.

In the forest areas, you’ll have to take advantage of the rough terrain to fight your way to enemy positions, while overcoming bunkers and trenches hidden by the undergrowth.

On the outskirts of the town, it becomes clear that the network of fortifications was meant to hold back the enemy’s advance not only in the wooded areas, but also in the open fields.

A small German town from the middle of the 20th century - with its own peculiarities, such as anti-tank guns on the outskirts.

Back to the surrounding areas: even before the war, this town was protected by nature. Traveling through such landscapes was hardly without accidents, so when the war arrived, these ravines became a real challenge for the enemy. How do you push through an area where the fire could come from under any rock?

Late-war missions will bring variety to the confrontation between the German and Soviet forces: rough terrain, multiple fortifications, and urban areas encourage aggressive and swift actions.

For a short while after the update’s release, the chance of getting these missions will be increased.

Honestly, my own personal opinion, but from playtesting this map I would say it’s super well done.

Large objectives, a good amount of cover, village areas and a larger village with some high buildings, large flanking routes and a wide playable area, etc. Map devs have done well here!

Looks nice, WW2 even

Does this mean it’s for high BR only?

No BT-7 and T-28 in German towns?

If so, can we finally free Stalingrad and Rzhev from high BR captivity?

But cool, finally a new map.

Will it be added to Berlin campain, and if yes, will it only be high BR?

I will ask out of curiosity, since you have featured two pictured of a pak40 emplaced, does this mean we will finally be able to use the emplaced weapons on maps? Or at least the beginning of that trend?

Pretty cool that’s what i imagined while thinking about Seelow Heights. Aka Trenches, forests and bunkers.

I hope that those neutral AA cannons will get reworked into being usable by infantry, especially 88mm flaks they are very tempting.

I would like but out of likes.

I am very very glad to hear it, I hope we see retroactive work to do work for all the other maps too as well? I mean between the triple 25’s and the 88’s, both would be great to have as an option as either an attacker or defender.

I need to ask, is this a separate battle or is it part of the Berlin battle?

It indeed is part of the battle of berlin

Make this map playable both as Axis vs Soviets and Axis vs USA. Generic German towns were on the western front too. Somewhere near Aachen or along the Siegfried line.

Okay, thank you for your reply

Yes, it forms part of the Battle of Berlin (part of Seelow Heights), so is at high BR only (BR III-V).

East and western Germany doesn’t really look the same - you have less French and Dutch influence in their architecture.

So why not wait for a Rhein river crossing map or some other cool unique place in Germany.

Also we dont have Invasion of Italy or Operating Market Garden yet
