Explosion Packs making Bomber Class Useless

Just checked with Germans. Can hit weak points 20 out of 20 times but tanks in Practice don’t have ammunition or fuel anymore, so they won’t blow up.
T-60 is easier to kill by killing crew as there are only 2 tankers in it. It’s ammo and fuel is well protected.

EDIT: So tanks with fuel and sometimes ammunition are in the middle of the tank field and further away. So far, it’s only PZ III E, PZ IV and 38 that doesn’t die in a single shot, but those have the thickest armor and you can still get lucky.

T-28 barrel doesn’t have a collision box and you can shoot directly at loaded shell :grin:

Exactly why the det packs should remain as they are. The tank damage models are all over the place. The det packs and planes are the only reliable counters.

It’s not “all over the place” as T-60 is a well armored tank. It takes 2-3 shots into a fuel tank to set it on fire.
I don’t know where you guys find “inconsistency”. Right now, you shoot at PZ IV fuel tank and you can see it’s “health” decreasing with each shot, as it’s side armor is properly thick compared to lower tier tanks. IMHO it’s more consistent than it was before.

I find it unfair that one faction’s starter tank is so good that it can be used until you obtain the end game tanks while the other’s is target practice until you’ve grinded enough(which at the moment is even harder than before). But atleast this can be dealt with because you get det packs early in the game. Nerfing det packs will lead to the T-60 absolutely dominating games because you have to get very lucky to finish it with an AT rifle or you need good pilots. The same goes for Pz III E for Germans. T-60 cannot do anything to it. The only reliable counter is to bring better tanks, planes or det packs. I’ve easily dominated games with tanks when enemy couldn’t take it down soon enough and I’ve also been on the receiving end. And I find it very important that tanks which are not careful should be neutralized as soon as possible, which the det packs do very well now.

So, it’s either buff AT rifle in a way that they are as reliable as the det packs now before nerfing, or let the det packs stay the way they are now. Either way, should be a low priority. There are much worse things in the game that the devs should be dealing with.

T-60 can kill only first two German tanks, everything else is off limits to it. It has only 2 tankers as crew, losing one is a severe hindrance to performance. Meanwhile PZ II can kill any Soviet tank all the way to T-28 and including it.

T-50 and PZ III E have very slow turret rotation and are really bad as anti-infantry tanks. They are “high-end” tank fighters. Best anti-infantry tanks are still T-28 and PZ IV, both are well armored and don’t die to AT rifles in a single shot, but still can be killed.

AT rifle being as “reliable” as det pack means it will one shot tanks from any angle. It all can stay the way it is if maps would be bigger and have more open layout. Otherwise using AT teams is just a waste of time. Just as carrying anything but det packs on every soldier.

Instead of refunding the TNT they could just convert it all to Anti-Tank mines and make them more viable an option to use since they’re pretty Jank at the moment

It’s a weird one with all of this as they’ve made an item too accessible which has now raised questions of balancing and, because of how accessible they are, any change would be felt massively

I just want to update on where I was going with this post when I initially made it -

In my opinion, the current state of the bomber class is not where it should be for the campaign that I have played the most which is the Invasion Of Normandy on the Allies side.

The PIAT is, for some reason, incredibly unreliable. I have had times where I’ve hit their tanks point blank with the PIAT right on point for the ammo box and it just does nothing or wipes 1 squad member.

The arguments made above this post about the bomber having good range options is… interesting for me. Maybe it’s the case in other campaigns or for other allies/ axis sides however, in the case of the piat, this is not the case. The piat will often fire straight over the enemy tank at range or simply lands off to the side of where you aimed it, dealing no damage and letting the tank fire back with 1 HE round and removing your chances of doing anything to it. I’ve only found that by aiming almost at the floor is the only way to sometimes hit the tank at range instead of it going directly over the top.

My suggestions on changing this are:

Give the bomber class more reliable accuracy
Allow us to fire from lying down with the PIAT - it always hits the floor infront of you
Give players using the Bomber class an idea as to how far away a ping marker is (just like the mortarman role has) - this will allow for more accurate range selections.
Give the bomber a larger range of Anti-tank grenades, mines or whatever as the current state of them makes them underwhelming at best vs the usual Anti-tank grenade.

To balance out the current 4 Anti-tank grenades per soldier per squad meta, a few things should be changed:

Reduce the Anti-Tank radius, throw distance and effectiveness against Personnel
Lock them out of grenade packs so there’s 1 per soldier - this will remove spam and require more consideration and skill
Remove the rewarding of kills upon a suicide run with the Anti-tank grenade. As it currently stands, you can suicide with the grenade to guarantee the tank kill and it still awards you with the kills on the scoreboard. This will hopefully deter this style of gameplay.

The other option is to go down the route of locking anti-tank grenades etc to the bomber class and maybe engineers too.

Also, maybe if the speed at placing Anti-Tank cannons as engineers was faster then they would see more use as an effective ranged option to counter tanks.

half the tossing range for TNT and it would still be strong against Tanks, however it would loose its power as a anti infantry grenade, forcing ppl to use nades instead. would be nerf enough.

And then more AT options for bombers, that would be sweet!

Yeah I think reducing the range they can be thrown would be the best way to nerf them - still need to do something about the 4 per person per squad thing though

but that would be the trade, right now there is 0 reason to use nades, instead every one just goes for TnT

if we take away the option for TnT to be as effective as a nade, then more ppl you decide to actually carry grenades instead, lowering the amount of ppl having TnT, AND less TnT= less spam.
