Yeah it’s a bit meh.
My opinion of the Johnson LMG?
As far as the DT-29, I don’t use it so
I have no comment. In all honesty,
I really don’t use MG’s much past
level three.
The second point, and you’re still wrong in a way. The DT-29 comes out on top purely because it’s rate of fire is slower, meaning you can suppress people for longer. Plus, it’s a magazine reload, not belt fed, meaning you can start shooting again faster (why had everyone forgotten the fatal flaw of the MG 34/42 being belt fed)
Let’s stop pretending that the high ROF of the MG-34 is actually a downside, the single second of lower shooting time the MG-34 gets is absolutely worth the greater amount of firepower it provides. And while the MG-34 does reload somewhat slower than the DT-29, it is again not by a degree enough to nullify the upsides of the gun. TBH for both guns if you’re forced to reload it in the middle of shooting someone you’re kind of fucked.
Also to be a pedant, the MG-34 being used with the Patronentrommel 34 magazine is not using a belt feed.
My mistake, I personally prefer using the MG 42 because to me the recoil is easier to handle than the MG 34. I was under the impression the Patronentrommel was literally just two drums like the 50 round MG 34 strapped together, not a completely different thing.
That logic can basically apply to any gun. Still, at the end of the day, it’s what people prefer using. Don’t forget the Soviets are the only ones in BR IV to have 70 round magazine SMGs (Axis have 40 round, Japan and US both have 50 round and much slower RPM). Plus, let us also not forget the turtle armour most Soviet mains have equipped. I think as a whole, the Soviets are well and truly balanced.
Only thing that isn’t balanced for the Soviets is the teams.
Doesn’t need a buff
Has an incredible reload speed, best in class accuracy, as well the best muzzle velocity.
Nah, it’s fine. Asymmetrical balance like this is fine. Soviets already get best-in-class weapons in other BRs.
These tiny numerical advantages can’t make up for a 200+ RPM difference. The opponents I face are all sexually repressed nerds—they only use the best builds.
as a soviet main, DT-29 seems honestly fine as is.
Would a sniper variant be cool? Absolutely,
I routinely use Johnson LMG in BR5 with no issues (its light and has high DPS - whats the issue?)
Whats your issue with DT-29? Personally since BR changes most BR4 lineups get uptiered into BR5, and FG42 is no match for the very best SVT40 build.
AKA my point is BR4 generally is extremely underpowered vs BR5.
Bro needs more ROF on a gun that one shot kills people (noobs in this game don’t take vitality)
Not here to argue over if the DT-29 should be buffed or not (was just here to argue that it absolutely is weaker than the BR4 MG-34) but even outside the whole vitaly thing and other stuff, the idea that rof doesn’t matter for a 10+ damage gun just isn’t accurate. That idea only works if you instantly perfectly lazer down enemies the moment you see them. Guns aren’t perfectly accurate, especially if you’re moving while shooting (you shouldn’t be doing that with a LMG but sometimes it just happens). The human aiming the gun isn’t perfectly accurate, especially when you have recoil to to deal with. A higher rate of fire even with a 1 hit KO weapon is still useful as it gives you “more chances” per second, for a lack of better words, to land that hit.
Is that a prototype variant or a normal in service thing? I quite enjoy using the Type 97 and it would be neat to see more scoped LMGs. Shame the other Japanese LMGs weren’t modelled with their scopes, felt like it could had been an interesting gimmick for the Japanese faction.
Sure but variety.
I dont want a one gun that does everything, and then gets axis mains complaining about OP yet again.
Add Fedorov-Shpagin Model 1922 in BR3-4 with 1200 RPM, problem solved
I love the DT 29. Its such a fun weapon, but not that good obviously.
seems you´re wrong
