got that yellow-ish camo on Pz IV H, but does it even help a little bit? Even if it just gives extra second of being unspotted, it’s a huge difference for me.
That depends on your positioning and fire activity.

so I’m guessing it helps if I’m not shooting often, while being in a wheat field or urban zone with lets say, light coloured buildings?
no.
it’s just for " cosmetic " purpose.
it doesn’t really give you beneficts as the skirts are of a different color and you pop up cuz of the orange dots.
perhaps on the beach in a hull position might help you, but most of the time it’s not worthed or risky.
so, enjoy the weird paint, and the fully upgeaded tank 
what truly helps you to get unspotted is, change position everytime you shoot down 2 squads or tanks.
this will help you to survive a bit better as they would expect you from another direction.
although squad can spot you easily ( admitting that they will spot you as not everyone in this game spots to begin with )

Of course camouflages work. If the colors blend in with your surroundings, it makes you harder to see. I’m not sure the color yellow would work so well, though.
