yes ww1 it was good but not against the semi and ww2 tech
Shotguns are rarely if ever used in modern combat anymore outside of breaching a door. No one wants the limited range and slow reloads when you can have a select fire rifle with 30 rounds. And before someone says âwell sling one on your back!â Thats some COD shit. Id rather take an M72 LAW or more M240 ammo or 40mm then a shotgun for the weight. We had one M1014 shotgun in Afghanistan that hung over our tent entrance with a sign that said âIncase of zombiesâ. No one carried them
By WW2 they were too busy murdering civilians to complain.
pretty much
Not surprised that there are places where shotguns are unused, after all is still good for urban environments, yet assault rifles now days dominate every terrain. SMGs are also mostly unused. That still doesnât make shotguns useless for CQC combat, specially in WW2, when ARs where not a standard, but a rarity in most cases.
Still doesnât change they are good in urban environments, and out perform bolt action rifles in such places. Nor it changes that the post nerf effective range of shotguns in enlisted is a bad joke compared to the actual devices.
Oh sure they were far more relevant then for sure. Now most our shotguns are specialized for breaching with breaching ammo and the standard ones never even leave the armory and just collect alot of dust
870 MCS
M26
Think i just fell in love with a M26
In regular armies, shotguns have evolved in to a utility implement, now days
Guerrillas on the other side still find shotguns preferable for many of their operations. As ammo is cheap and available, also different ammo types make shotguns very versatile weapons, plus a good guerrilla can chose the ground where they fight more often than not, which means they can use such weapons in their best conditions.
Its a cheap pile of junk. Ive never see a weapon so cheaply made cost around 3000$. Its also a bolt action not a semi auto. Theres a small handle you have to manually cycle each shot
C-More M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System 12 Gauge (SBS) sorry 5600$ lmao
Ah thanks for the info, looked nice.
but larping as the volksturm
the winchester 1912 has iron sights?
I donât know weâll about European campaigns, but at least shotgun was popular weapon at Pacific jungle battlefields during WW2.
In case of Japanese Navy, their Naval Landing Forces used 110,000 manual shotguns and 50,000 semi-automatic shotguns for substitute of submachine guns. Generally they were commandeered civilian 12 gauge shotguns. In that time, in Japan, the most popular semi-auto shotgun was Browning Auto-5 but perhaps not only Auto-5 but also they may have Savage M720 and Remington Model 11. Although they were expensive so civilian often used bolt-action Murata shotgun (converted several Murata rifles) and double-barrels too.
Additionally, they also designed unique Type 4 double-barrel hand shotgun as substitute of submachine gun at the end of war, but only thousands were built.
In other hand, US also used shotguns for such battlefields. Winchester M1912 was often used for jungle warfare equipment and garrison equipment.
If they implement any pacific campaign, I think shotguns should be get historical firepower.
The German army never accepted shotguns to service as a weapon to fight infantry with because of the terrible wounds caused by them.
The M30 Drilling was exclusive to Luftwaffe pilots over Africa as a pdw and hunting weapon. (Standard loadout was one birdshot, one buckshot and one hunting round 9,3 x 74mm capable to deal with any animal one could face)
Pity some Devs didnât know that, as Axis pilots in Tunisia, donât seem to get the option, of equipping it
Yeah, German claims so since WWI but others didnât think so.
Anyway, pilots canât use Luftwaffeâs shotgun is very sadâŚ
Yeah, thatâs just a matter of personal oppinion and warfare.
With the introduction of little Sturmtrupps raiding whole trenches with (machine-)pistols and grenades, shotguns lost itâs point (at least for german tactics).
