Not a fan. With the current “limit to 1” systems like plane spawns, tank spawns or rally point spawns, they use alphabetical priority to determine who gets it. This makes arty either unchanged, or unplayable, depending on your username.

I agree. Arty spam is cancer and indeed should see a fix.

30 seconds isn’t enough.

As, Shiivex, I m usually the one getting tanks when I start a match, didn’t even know that was a thing
. But, I load the match in less than 3 seconds :confused: I m usually the first guy spawned in a map

Currently Arty and Mortars are overused … But I would rather have a smart solution that keeps those classes viable and fun than the lazy fix of just increasing the cool down.

A cool down of any longer than a minute will make that squad unplayable. I believe I did propose and still endorse the idea that we should treat radio equipped soldiers as spotters to make them actively engage in the battle and prevent them from sitting in the rear firing blindly …

The natural effect of this will mean that they wont be able to spam fire every 30 seconds but will have to position themselves to spot where the rounds are landing. This will of course also have the effect of making them more vulnerable to enemy fire.

It’s actually very easy to test this out. Play your arty squad and don’t call for fire unless you can actually see where the rounds will land. You wont be able to fire as often and you will die a lot quicker doing this …

Alphabetical order doesn´t seem to work for me either. I´m usually one of the last ones to spawn.

It doesn’t work. No one knows what Tcat is on about other than himself.

I almost always get the tank first if I want it even though my name starts with T and there’s people with A and B in the lobby. Nice fake report.

Then please explain how I can load into a map and be the first to click spawn for vehicle, like 10 seconds before the actual match start, then have it taken from me by one of my friends whose usernames starts with E, F, M, S, E, etc, at the last second, while I can consistently keep it when playing with anyone with a lower alphabetical priority?

How lucky you were to have a building to hide in, on the last point of the swamp invasion map and the Last point on D-day there isn’t any building to hide in, nothing to cover you from the hail of 2 inch mortar, artillery and CAS. For the most part I can learn to begrudging live with artillery spam but to have to sit on and defend an exposed cap for at least 5-10 minutes is downright impossible. And the cherry on top of that is there isn’t even a downside to spamming the mortar! It doesn’t even inflict friendly fire!

I would like to see the nerf that you can only call arty after you marked a area with specific smoke nades.
Would force radio out of the spawns and be easier to counter.
Or nerf the cooldown by 1min.
I like the first one though.

as S name i m always the first tanker. when i mean always, its always lol.

i go as pz3 or now premium pz3 every game start . used to go as planes befor the min nerf.

so far i belive i never lost my spawn to anyone.

but, might be with the fast loading times. once i get a batle queued in 3 seconds or so i m playing. i have the loading screen for less than a second…

about the topic/on topic: yes arty is cancer. its just awfull to play against or have a parkinson simulation experience. a change on how it works would be huge for me, i find arty useless as kill tool, but, to zero a area and create a temporary barrier each 30 seconds its too efective, even if it doesnt kill, you wont go to a red circle…

30 seconds “ability” shouldnt be a thing. 4 mins for everyone as befor with a full min at start of the match as current planes would do the trick.

i m not found of spawning and in 10 seconds have 5 red circles between me and the first point, its just bad game design.

my suggestion:

No 30 second “ability” on the arty squad
everyone have a 4 min “reload” time
everyone cant use the arty for a full first min ingame like current planes. (right now arty its 10 seconds once spawn, i propose a minute.)

yeah no. So you should get penalized because some autistic moron decided he was gonna try and run through the big red circle and gets his whole squad nuked? Fuck that. I’ve seen multiple occasions where that has happened.

I feel arty is 10x worse in hell let loose. You don’t even get a warning. At least here if you are aware, you can prolly get out of the situation.
I was just chilling in HLL and BOOM. Shwacked. (still a newb in HLL haha)
However Artillery is fired manually by actual people instead of being radioed in and then fired by AI. That could be a great idea, however i feel the maps would have to be a lot larger to accompany that idea for enlisted.

I see this more often that not and its rather amusing. DONT RUN IN TO DIRECT FIRE IF YOU DO NOT INTEND ON DYING. lol I keep thinking of the scene from jojo rabbit when the captain explaining how to throw a grenade to hitler youths. The kid grabs the grenade but doesn’t throw it and blows up. The captain just turns and says to the other youths “Don’t do that”

As a former 13F I Concur with this. The radio operator teams are supposed to be just that, Forward observers. Their job is to get eyes on the enemy and call for fire as needed. I would agree to having different types of artty to be able to call in as well. a smoke barrage of WP would be great for advancing infantry and armor to use as a screen(while causing harm to enemy/friendly infantry caught in it) AT rounds would be great for taking out enemy armor(the current HE setup does fuck all to tanks, there are and were shell then and now that could deal great damage to armor). The cooldown needs to be increased. 30s is stupid. Bigger barrages would help with that as well. And to be completely honest, more destructable environments would help as well. I don’t know many buildings that could take a full battery fire of 155’s and still be standing afterwards…

So what would be the purpose of radio squad? Why should anyone keep playing with it in that case?

That would pretty much mean they are going to be as useless as in CBT and before, but with additional rape of the class for a good measure by placing 1 minute timer on start of the match.

They were far from useless in the CBT
They functioned as a second rifle squad with the ability to call arty

Yeah, you could call artillery… once. Then die and switch (because it is not worth it waiting or trying to survive for that long) to squads that are actually helpful or useful.
Also lets not forget that current radiomen squad have only 5 men in.
And after you reserach that squad, you can safely throw it into the trash bin, because it is inferior, and it is just easier and with same effect to take one radioman in another squad instead.
