D-Day map - Just remove it

I think its fairly well agreed that the D-Day map is an example of how to not make maps.

For the allied team, its an absolute slog getting anywhere as the countless MG nests and bunkers make it impossible to even come close to a fair fight, alongside engineer spamming the capture points with barbwire and sandbags.

For the Axis team, it just isnt fun because the map is too easy, Rarely in the few times I have played it since release have I actually managed to lose the first cap. Hosing down Americans from the bunkers just means the allied team won’t push and resorts to camping.

This map really does need pulling and reworking, as currently whenever I play normandy, I instaquit on D-Day as I just can’t be asked to play the map.

they should give two capture points capturing anyone will open another point problem solved

I don’t find that to be the case at all, at least on xbox.

I played D Day map about 6 times yesterday, as axis and only held them in two of the six games, and they got to the next to last objective on the games we won.

This is entirely a learn to play issue. On these first few days most of your teammates are newbies.

To win on Normandy, follow these easy steps:
1: Equip sniper in lineup
2: Equip engineer in linup
3: Spawn with sniper, immediately hide behind your landing craft and snipe out the MGs
4: Go to Engineer, run far left or right and build a rally point
5: Use rally point flank to cap point
6: Profit

The D-Day map is only bad because half the players just run straight at the machine guns lol. If they would use their brains for once then it wouldn’t be a problem

yeah it has so much space to enter but all enter the machine gun route probably to have a historical day

It’s like naval battles. People just blow right down the middle and blame the game being trash instead of them not knowing stratagy

I use this tactic, but the issue still remains.
It’s a problem with the fact, the map is poorly designed.
Either remove/ reduce the MG nests or just streamline the first capture point to make it easier to attack. the push across the beach is a slog.

If i can get 218 kills as a defender when the next on my time gets 63, then something is wrong

I played beach landing today, guess how many smokes US used.
The answer is: 0

Definitely learn to play since the US almost always won on that map in the CBT

Disagree, I commonly lost that map on the allied team.
In fact, I’d say I won it more times than lost as Axis

the only problem is that only you will be doing this and getting closer to the point you will be left with only one of your soldiers

If you were a CBT’er and have smokes already, equip them ALL and use them. I rush engi on the right side and place a rally point and push hard.

As mentioned you can snipe the mgs with all weapons. Not all the time but it feels like all the time i’m the only one capping the beach. If you can rush the bunker from the roof opening and hide in the room [that’s still in the cap zone] you can point fire any Germans coming into the bunker for a relatively easy cap.

You must remember as engi to dismantle your Rally points once you’ve advanced because they stay! You can see where the old rallys are by equipping your hammer, it will show on the mini map. Press J to dismantle :slight_smile:

Make ammo boxes on the rally too to get a base of fire when you spawn in.

The rest of the map is a turkey shoot really. Just keep spamming rallys, they’re literally game turners and more people need to use them.

I’ve won with both sides. The invasion was not easy. And people need to coordinate efforts. Not just spawn and run and die

Problem with smokes is they take grenade slot. I think its pretty bad design if another team MUST play whole campaing without tnt/grenades cause there is one map that requires smokes while germany can use what ever they want

edit: also that start with sniper, snipe mg’s repeat get really boring

I’m ngl I would like to see it changed to assault game mode with two sets of zones over several stages. I feel like it would drop the chaos down the to the right amount.

once you get the first objective, it’s a cakewalk. no kidding. countless time i won by simply putting some rally over the upper hills or cut the german forces reinforcements.
giving time to my team to procede and capture the others points as well.

too easy?
for the reason above, once the german lose the first point, they have a 60% chance of loosing the whole match. as respawn are far from points ( which it’s correct ) and full of hills where snipers and bot can 1 tap german forces that tries to get on the point.

let alone planes.

honestly, the only bad map of this game, it’s the new one introduced in the swamps.

that’s a nightmare for both teams.

the first point, which it’s the entrance in the ruins of the city, allied spawn literally next to the objective, while the geramans to the far south of the city.

after that they lose the first objective, here comes the chuch where most likely can turns to tide for both faction, to get further slopped by the house.

without considering the bunker that is totally open.

or the last objective setted in the gustav cannon.

but generally, all maps should be reworked. but we ain’t map developers.
and many factors impact our minds about it. as we might have different views…
