I don’t think you can blame the devs for letting people decide how they name themselves and talking about the commie stuff. Iirc commie symbols etc. are only outlawed in Poland, Baltics and Indonesia. Rest don’t care or are specific or allow it for art purpose.

well if it was me i would say f everything and made historically accurate game and would not care about few countries that have laws against such symbols. if anything bans in few small countries could be excellent marketing strategy.

even in US freedom of speech is only guaranteed against government on public spaces. on internet corporations can cause of section 230 of US law do whatever they want. youtube has big censorship/demonetization policy against certain topics (interesting fact: anything related to criticizing CCP will be instantly demonetized by youtube). also facebook, twitter, amazon and other corporations have similar policies.
