-British Solomon Islands Protectorate Defence Force
- They played a significant part in reconnaissance in the battle for the Solomon Islands (Guadalcanal in particular) and guerrilla warfare led by Martin Clemens. This was an easy premium or event squad.
-805th Tank Destroyer Battalion with 75 MM GMC M3 Halftrack
- The 805th Tank Destroyer Battalion played a significant role in the battle for Tunisia. They are known for taking heavy casualties at Kasserine Pass and participating in the Battle of El Guettar. This Tank Destroyer battalion also used the M10 Tank Destroyer at El Guettar, but it would be cooler to see a 75MM GMC half-track and not a copy and paste from Normandy.
-601st Tank Destroyer Battalion with M6 Fargo
- The 601st Tank Destroyer Battalion played a significant role in Tunisia. They are known for their key roles in the success of El Guettar. They used the 75 MM GMC half-track, M6 Fargo, and the M10 Tank Destroyer. I believe that the M6 Fargo should’ve been with this squad since it would be copy and paste otherwise.
-1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division Riflemen Squad or Assaulter Squad
- The 1st Marine Regiment played a significant role at Guadalcanal. They are known for their defense against the Japanese attack at the Battle of Tenaru. Yet the 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, was added to Guadalcanal even though they did not exist until Guadalcanal was secured. For the six months of the battle of Guadalcanal, they did not exist.
-7th Marine Regiment, 1st Division Machine Gunner Squad
- The 7th Marine Regiment played a significant role at Guadalcanal. They are known for their significant role in the battles of Matanikau. This should’ve been a no-brainer squad to add since two Medal of Honor recipients were fighting in this regiment on Guadalcanal. One of the Medal of Honor recipients received it on account of “Moving an extra gun into position, he placed it in action, then, under continual fire, repaired another and personally manned it, gallantly holding his line until replacements arrived…” and “A little later, with ammunition critically low and the supply lines cut off, Sgt. Basilone, at great risk of his life and in the face of continued enemy attack, battled his way through hostile lines with urgently needed shells for his gunners, thereby contributing in large measure to the virtual annihilation of a Japanese regiment…”. Yet the 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, was added instead, and it only set foot on Guadalcanal until long after the battle.
-1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division Engineer Squad
- The 1st Combat Engineer Battalion played a significant role at Guadalcanal. They are known for using Japanese equipment to complete defenses on the Marine perimeter, finishing Henderson Field, and constantly repairing it after Japanese bomber attacks. They would also act as Infantry at night. Instead, Darkflow added the 7th Infantry Division and the 31st Infantry Division. None of these Infantry Divisions participated in the Battle of Guadalcanal. Darkflow has also yet to add a USMC Combat Engineer Battalion for whatever reason.
-VFA-31 with F6F Hellcat
-The VFA-31 has fought throughout all of WW2. The USN fighter squadron was aboard the USS Enterprise during the bombing of Pearl Harbor as well as the Battles of Wake Island, Marcus Island, Coral Sea, Midway, Guadalcanal, and the Eastern Solomons. The squadron has seen aerial combat over the Philippines, Formosa, Okinawa, and China. They flew F4F Wildcats, F6F Hellcats, and F8F Bearcats.
Hopefully, these squads will be added post since they weren’t added pre-merge, even though they had every right to be added. Feel free to post any common sense squads that Darkflow did not add, as I am sure there are many more.
