I once had a relative who was an Japanese Self Defence Forses member and received a JSDF ration, one of which was a can of dry bread. It was an incredibly hard, crumbly, powdery, horrible food that absorbed all the moisture in your mouth.

Can’t be worse than Canadian bread rations. It’s literally just a compressed loaf of almost expired bread vacuum sealed so it doesn’t go bad. Yes, the whole loaf of bread compressed into a quarter half inch thick square.

You know it might be fun to eventually replace the flask or medkit with something like eating a candy bar or smoking a cigarette or something. Not something technically necessary but something that might be fun to have as an option, especially if post merge we delve more heavily into customizing our soldiers and armies.
Maybe we can improve the speed of changing bullets by eating rations. Because my soldiers look like they are not full.
or give starting soldiers mor stamina then a chain-smoking famine victim.
