Change the Jagpanzer 4 and Panzer IV 70/A to BR3

These are both tank destroyers at BR4 currently, and they are, unfortunately, quite useless. The Jagpanzer 4 has the same gun as BR3 panzer 4s, but it gas limited traverse on it and the machine gun due to the casemate design that limits it’s usability. The increased armour profile of around 80 effective millimeters of armour frontally on average, may make it useful statwise, but the sherman can easily penetrate it with APCBC, since it has roughly 100mms of penetration.just taking a panther is much more easy since it does about everything better. At BR3, this would be a strong but limited vehichle, capable of taking some hits and dealing good damaged to vehichles, but in exchange being much more vulnerable to infantry.

The Panzer IV 70/A would be very similar to the Jagpanzer 4, but with 2 main differences. It gets the much more powerful 75mm cannon used on the panther, in exchange for having a large flat front plate, which is around 60mms thick, which is plenty thin for any BR2 tank it might face to penetrate it. which is a major weakness that tanks can exploit. Again, in the current state of the game, just taking the panther is better in every way.

So for these reasons, I propose lowering them to BR3, where they would be more useful, while not being too powerful.

This surely is one way to employ the word ‘easily’

Now imagine using a BR2 tank against this thing…

just for a quick comparison, this is the german long 50mm (puma, Pz III J1/M) against the KV1, which is considered as almost invincible by german mains :

I was just looking at stats at the moment since im away from my console, so I assumed that would penetrate, but apparently not.at the same time though, in exchange for the armour, it looses ease of use heavily. The KV1 in enlisted seems to be bugged in some way, so it’s a lot harder to penetrate it in enlisted. This might make it stay, but the panzer 4 70/A can probably go down.

Yeah…no. German TD’s are rolling bunkers. The less of em I see, the better

forger about Jagdpanzer IV L70 (A) its a weird ugly prototype that no one likes anyways, however when talking about the other Jagdpanzers… well Jagdpanzer IV has 60mm of very sloped armor, which is too much for almost all allied and soviet BR3 tanks, however regular Jagdpanzer IV L70 has 80mm of armor, but since it is sitting in BR5 its easy prey for other BR5 vehicles.

BR4 Jagdpanzer IV L48 has the Panzer IV J gun and 60mm of armor
BR5 Jagdpanzer IV L70 has the Panther gun and 80mm of armor

both those tanks are out gunned AND out armored in their own BR, however if one would move them down one BR both be very OP as well. Sadly both those tanks sit right between BRs and being worthless is better than them breaking the game.

However - there is a solution, if Jagdpanzer IV with its Panzer IV gun had 80mm instead of 60mm, it would actually be useful - considering that only the first few build Jagdpanzer IV actually had 60mm of armor and 80mm Jagdpanzer IV L48 actually did exist … well then such a change would make even sense from a HA standpoint.

ever had to fight the premium STUG III G? that one has just 80mm of flat armor and is already tricky to knock out, its got the gun mantlet weak spot which is good compromise, however there existed later Stug III versions with a stronger gun mantlet - if that STUG would be added allies and soviets would get quite a lot of problems dealing with that one. And now add the fact that Jagdpanzer IV or Hetzers would have even better armor than that STUG - BR3 would be a bad spot for those tanks.

Its slopped frontal armour is amazing, but given its turretless nature and weak side armour the Hetzer is a in weird spot, there is no point to use it on BR4, just as no one is using Jagdpanzer IV over a Panther on BR4.
However on BR3 it would be frontally impervious to almost all BR2 and some BR3 tanks, it would take a lot of skill to use properly (a lot more than the KV-1 or M4A2) but could perform much better too so its a pick your poison situation.
My personal solution would be to add the Hetzer to BR4 and make it the replacement tank so players that got themselves uptiered hard would get a Hetzer to fight an IS-2 or Pershing instead of a Panzer IV H which isnt better than the BR3 J or G at all.
This way it would have some form of use while not being too OP because lets face it, we would need more BRs to properly balance tanks (which is unrealistic, this isnt a tank game).

The Panzer IV 70/A is decently vulnerable. Its a fair answer to the KV-1 IMO, thats what it does in Warthunder (especially if the KV-1 Zis 5 moves down)

It Can troll newbies though, if people aim at the top plate. I use it in war thunder because it catch’s some people out. (aim indicator gives you away in Enlisted though)

yep, this one should probably get a separate suggestion since its actually about as strong as Panzer IV.
better armour but no MG so its basically in the same situation as the SU-85 vs T-34-85

isnt SU 85 still a Br5 vehicle?

It Shouldn’t be though. I asked if I need to make a post but Euthy said it already had one.
