Give the Russians Ak47 and the Germans chopsticks, and the Germans still win! That’s because the russians play like chickens whose enclosure has been invaded by a fox.
I don’t want to enter the “main” trope, but I’ve noticed something similar in… all other ww2 games, or even, all pvp games I’ve played.
Game is new, things are more or less balanced. But one faction has a bit more players.
The mains from the bit less popular faction whines, and ask for buffs and to nerf the other factions.
Devs stupidly listen.
The players from the once popular faction DON’T STOP playing. They keep doing so, with new disadvantages…
… They get BETTER at the game. They now start winning again against the buffed faction.
Same mains whine again, buff, nerf…
Then at some point it becomes less interesting and players go find another game.
It’s what is happening here, more or less. Just look at all the recent patch notes. Only one faction seems to receive buffs… but keep losing somehow. And here they ask more buffs.
Rince repeat.
You have described exactly how Reto Moto Heros & Generals drove into the wall. Exactly like this!
Most players won’t just play one faction. Especially for high-level players, they are often familiar with the combat performance of other factions while mastering one faction. So for games like RTS, I strongly agree that dev should consider the opinions of higher-level players more, because they have a deeper understanding of the game, rather than simply listening to all opinions.
You’d be surprised how many mains there are, how many biased players get attached to one faction and start hating the opposite…
While stupidly forgetting ALL factions are theirs!
As a veteran player who unlocked everything, my opinion is that: Soviets DON’T need buffs. If anything THEY’RE ALREADY BUFFED with all their smgs being downtiered.
The one faction who DOES need love at end lvl right now, is USA/Commonwealth. The Sherman 76 just don’t cut it at tier5, and they also have the weakest anti tank weapon (I like the m9, but it’s not enough).
Meanwhile devs created a fantasy assault rifle and an overwhelmingly buffed battle rifle because the opposite faction has stgs. They also gave on par AT weapons by copy pasting. For Sovs.
Everything Sovs got is on par with their opponents, maybe is2 reload time (which is no issue if aiming well). As for USA/Commonwealth, do they have ARs like Sovs? do they have powerful tanks like Sovs? Do they have copy paste great AT weapons like Sovs?
P47 can only do so much. Yet they persevere and aren’t buffed like Soviets are.
Favoritism? Bias? I’ll let others judge.
My opinion is merely that Sovs are buffed enough, while Usa NOT enough.
In fact, before the merge, my opinion was the same as yours. I thought the USA would be completely dominated by the Germans because they simply don’t have weapons that strong enough.
But based on my experience in the German army, it seems that the USA has performed well and showed some good resistance in front of germans.
On the contrary, the Soviets have hardly won, and I have only lost against the Soviets when encountering skilled players team up (They have similar IDs so they are definitely a little team). This makes me doubt whether the manpower mechanism of the Soviets was too weak.
Perhaps the Soviets have more noob players, but was this enough to make the originally strong faction perform poorly, and the originally poor faction perform strongly? Anyway, I will continue to monitor future developments.
There’s no cure for brain damage and all that Moscow farming has made it worse
It’s exactly because of what I’ve said:
USA players remaining are hardcore ones that play without the comfort of overbuffed things. They win because they play well.
If Sovs lose… is probably because they got too used to having good stuff (remember Berlin debut? Once axis started having ON PAR things, Sovs deserted the campaign!).
BUT!!!
Reverse scenario is true too! Remember Normandy? Axis dominated effortlessly here. Until news of war thunder update came… and USA players came back destroying them, so axis left.
Soviets are already overbuffed.
Counter suggestion:
The old H&G system. Underdog faction (less players, less victories) should get a % bonus in earnings per match.
It just works that one great man once said
That right there is what we need and less of whatever’s happening to the forum and the poor game which is now turning into cod
The Soviets may as well become Germans at this point except for when it comes to tanks
Which is the main problem.
From day one I claimed that adding the Tiger II H was a mistake, even though the IS2 frontal armor is already stat wise performing better than it should - its still no match for the Tiger II H.
I fear the devs will add the IS3 tank soon or later - because it seems to me this is the only logical way how this problem can be dealt with - yet this would also create a whole new bunch of balance issues.
The Soviets became obese because of over farming in Moscow so they’re not ready to deal with real players unlike the players from Normandy
IS-3 would be suffer from the same slow reload time, its a fing placebo
Its armor is much stronger though, if we go down that road of power creep we will eventually get Jagdtiger and even Maus.
Use the same 122mm, is not even the BL-10 fron WoT, so why people think they gonna get fadter reload magically?
And in comes the German Maus
And if not that then they’ll be the storm tiger
and it’s more real than the AS-44
if they keep buffing a subjectively unfavored side while nerfing the theoretical favored one, eventually the power curve switch sides, and most players without a “main” syndrome playing the old OP side/now overnerfed faction switch sides with it, leading to even worst absolute stomps in the other direction.
we have seen that many, many, so many times in this game i am amazed people still dont get it. populations flow; what now is OP, with no change at all, can become UP in a matter of days when the player tide switch sides. hell, it even changes NOW not even weekly, or daily, but in matter of HOURS. playing at a different time on the same faction will net completely different results.
only those with the “main” syndrome will stay in the now nerfed/used to be op side, and omg how they cry when that happens.
If all you need is kill the enemy then it´s enough. But if you need to attack all you can do is farm kills, wich seems to suit many Western allies players just fine. P-47s and Jumbos hounding the OBJ but they still loose because they have barely any map presence.
yup. the abandoning of bots in favor of human players meant you not always have squads going for the objective, human players tend to spread all over the map, preferably as far as posible of the cap zone, hide in a corner and try to farm kills.
with the bots, on the other hand, you could be certain there was a constant flow of bodies into the capture zone, that somehow formed a thin resistance layer, making the BULK of fighting be on point.
this has the added effect of making the whole map from grey zone to grey zone the entire line of contact, making flanking impossible, since if everything in the playable zone is the front line, how the hell you gonna make a flank movement on the ground?
which in turn removes a lot of the tactical rally placing, many times i got delighted by seeing that rally in the back flank, thinking “that dude there that built this, he really worked his arse out to win, not to get as many lol roflstomp kills as possible”.
added to the ridiculous speed the games move now, and the increased front line making detecting rallies easier than before, the good old meme “build rallies to win” is loosing value fast.
