MG 42 is the best, in history and in game.
Mows down entire groups in seconds.
Nothing can beat it.

fires too fast to save ammo
Fire in bursts, and use the ammo bag utility.
Get plenty of kills by the time I’m out.
Can’t argue with that, but it’s fire rate historically and in game is too fast to be efficient on ammo, but it’s still damn good. IRL they burned barrels, and were still good enough to be the basis of the MG the US developed next (M60) and is still in service in Germany (MG3)

If you were wheremacht you would feel like the armoror hated you if you were handed a Breda mod 30 and sent to fight the Americans while your peers got MG34s. Then again if you had a mod 30 you were probably czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Italian or Vichy French. It was mainly allocated to their foreign Units or Support unit reserves.
The star of the show in the german Infantry platoon was the machine gunners.

In ww2 supporting the mg was as important as staying in communication the the NCOs
