I just opened up the source material based around that skin. I have never read it. Itās literally first 5 pages of the manga. I was as surprised as you were.

We both know i had to as i always dig deep with my findings 
donāt blame me blame Gaijin for picking this source material as their new skin.
Now it looks super boring, they could replace the flag with Italian one simply or something

Yes, I agree with that. Though, having a plane with an anime skin is definitely worse than the new plain skin.

I donāt mind the number staying there to be honest because it only stands out to people who knew of the previously existing anime plane, and itās not unrealistic for a plane to have that number.
It also feels like itās a part of Enlistedās community as you had to be there to see it, so only those In the know will remember.
