The machine gun was the core of Germany’s infantry doctrine. Germany had two basic strategies when using their machine guns: when used offensively they used a magazine, when used defensively they were belt fed. When belt fed, a standard squad carried 5 boxes of 50 rounds with a total of 250 rounds. The belts could be linked together.
In game all German machine guns use magazines. I propose we get belt fed variants of the German machine guns. It would be a good counter to the Allies M1919 machine gun, which has 100 rounds. Since the German belts could be linked, the devs could choose whether we get a 100, 150, 200, or 250 belt for the gun. Likely they would use 100 because that’s somewhat reasonable and a literal counter to the M1919, but who knows
We already have a small handful of guns with different variants, so adding a new variant of the MGs would be fine. Plus there’s nothing wrong with a higher ammo capacity MG. So in every campaign, current and future, that has Germans we would get the standard magazine and belt version of their MGs, probably at different campaign levels
i just want the option to run a mg42 with 50 rounds as current is inside a belt holder / gurttrommel
or / and a 100 to 250 or what ever as loose belt.
something for MG gunners 3/4 or what ever.
i dont care.
since US mg already has 100 rounds, and , beltfed DP on soviets berlin with 100 rounds is already a thing, with possible RD-44 with 100 round as we saw on alpha tests, a bigger belt , as a loose one, on mg42, wouldnt be that unreasonable to ask.
ye sure current 50 round belt inside a mag works, but … brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…
50 rounds at 1650 (?) i belive rpm (coz stat page of print above is from a 2 star one) is too litle
i m yet to understand why they dont post the fully upgraded weapon since , it will come fully upgraded by default on a premium and they always display a non upgraded variant… reasons…
I guess we could get a belt-fed MGs as static variants at least - the ones that engineers build, while the smaller magazine ones can be given to the more mobile variants that gunners do now.
