Nowadays, flamethrowers perform even worse than submachine guns at close range! You are often killed by enemies, even if you first use a flamethrower.
There are three ways to improve here:
1.Make the flamethrower more lethal at close range, but only cause less damage at long distances.For example, for a flamethrower with a range of 32 meters, it can cause 2x damage within 10 meters,1x damage within 10-20 meters, and only half the damage within 20-32 meters.
2.Reduce the damage of flamethrowers, but increase the duration and range of flames on the ground, which will make the use of flamethrowers more inclined towards “obstructing enemies”.
3.Increases the damage of the flamethrower, but for every soldier the flame penetrates, the damage is halved. This gives the flamethrower the ability to fight against other players at close range, but it also does not easily eliminate a large number of enemies.
These are the three options I have come up with, they are not coexisting, they are a one out of three choice.
In short, flamethrowers should not have both range and damage in their attack range, but they should have prominent parts, instead of the current situation where all functions are too mediocre and useless.
