I don’t know too much about the project but it seems that there was an extended magazine version prototype for both weapons in which we could do a mini-event like the Gewher to give some love to Japan and have some extra content, even if necessary it could be split down in two events or even three if there is some crazy person who decides that a sniper version can be made
Looks like they only made them out of Type 38s and trialed them with the IJN in 1945. It’s just a cut down 38 with a modified type 96 mag(thank god it wasn’t a type 99 with a modified type 99 mag) so it should honestly be super easy to slap together a model for it and call it a day.
Would be a good BP/event item imo.

Hmm any idea where you read that? I’ve only ever seen the image of the Type 38 version and pretty much no source info why it was done.
