Alas that is the price we must pay for the merge. Eventually you will see LVTs in Hurtgen Forest
This is the crux of the problem with games that have spawn points.
The inf vs vehicle balance is undone in this simple step and to re-balance it is extremely challenging, given the current track record, for all devs.
The current map design - small maps, cluttered landscape and plenty of infantry cover or just general terrain to soak up the fire from the vehicles goes a long way to provide infantry with a good level of survivability vs AFVs
In addition the game saturates infantry squads with ahistorical / arcade levels of AT weapons which can easily defeat the AFV as long as the infantry can get close enough.
The fact that infantry can utilise spawn points and effectively teleport around the map bypassing any issues of terrain maneouvre provides them with an unprecedented advantage over any vehicle in game. However, unlike HLL where there is only one spawn area at the edge of the map for the whole game, Enlisted advances the spawns as you advance - so there is still some distance to close, but if your team doesn’t build rallies that’s not a game design fault. This then opens up the argument for a terrain factor rebalance for the infantry.
Just like vehicles have to observe weight and terrain type restrictions so should infantry - if you loaded up your soldiers with multiple rifles, grenade packs and all sorts of other paraphernalia that slows you down to a walk that’s your choice.
But soldiers should slow down to a walk when traversing the same stupid hills that tanks struggle with, as well as hew their way through mud at a crawl as well. Most vehicles will certainly feel it when they hit the mud patches particularly on the Moscow maps.
My point is that spawn point teleportation and advancing spawns trumps the walking sim of HLL and resolves that issue. But the lack of terrain effects on infantry remains the last vestige of poor balancing of inf vs vehicles. Once that’s done, even the inf AT spam will become more bearable because it will be just that little bit harder to close with the tanks if you overload your soldier with too much unrealistic equipment.
This is not a nerf to the arcade load outs that exist in game, its just application of consequence to them.
It is also the key factor which will propel APC with their mobile spawn points to a new important position in the context of their role and the tactical choice their employment now offers to the players.
Imagine seeing this in Normandy and Hurtgen
