In recent Q&A the Devs talked about that they were thinking of ideas on how to nerf the Meteor
Well i have a historical and elegant proposal
You see… the very First batches of Meteor Mk.3 jets used Derwent I jet engine
It had 2000lbf max thrust
In game… we have later batches of Meteor Mk.3 which are modelled with Derwent II engines.
The difference is that Derwent II has WEP and Derwent I does not.
Derwent I: 2000lbf (100% power) / No WEP
Derwent II: 2000lbf (100% power) / 2200lbf (WEP)
If Meteor Mk 3 had its WEP removed, it would represent an early meteor mk 3 version
The Max Performance as a result of no longer having WEP would change this:
Max Speed:
792km/h at SL —> 747km/h at SL (45km/h nerf)
804km/h at 5500m —> 760km/h at 5500m (45km/h nerf)
Rate of Climb at Sea Level would be nerfed from arond 22.5m/s down to 20.2m/s
The sustained turn rate would also be nerfed from 18-19 sec to 20 seconds
The nerf at SL would be significant because
Me-262 at Sea Level has around ~825km/h max speed
After Meteor Mk.3 is nerfed down to Derwent I engines the speed advantage at low altitudes would be more significant for Me-262.
Meteor Mk 3 (Derwent II)
792km/h at SL
Me-262A-1 (Jumo 004)
825km/h at SL
Meteor Mk 3 (Derwent I)
747km/h at SL
Me-262 speed advantage from 33km/h better —> 78km/h better
Not only that but the rate of climb nerf and WEP removal would reduce meteor Mk 3 acceleration.
Me-262A-1 at Sea Level has 20.0m/s climb rate
Meteor Mk 3 with Derwent II (now) has 22.5m/s climb rate
Meteor Mk 3 with Derwent I (would have) 20.2m/s climb rate
Speed and acceleration nerf will also mean it will take longer for meteor to reload its bombs and come back which also addresses its payload concerns to an extent.

Bonus
Kikka has 875km/h at SL in game
35m/s climb rate at SL in game
Kikka is the best performing jet in game but has the worst turn rate which is the enlisted META
But the WEP removal will make it easier for kikka to corkscrew meteor to follow it upwars and cause the meteor to stall faster, allowing the kikka to then be able to pounce down on it.
For those who dont believe me about Kikka
With the upgrade system giving it 10% more thrust and lower fuel option than 35m/s was listed for… Kikka in Enlisted has 44.50m/s rate of climb which puts it on par with F-86 Sabre in terms of rate of climb
if you go into vertical corkscrew and avoid getting hit and forcing enemy jet to follow you up, theres not a single jet in game that can keep up with you in the vertical.
