Ah yes. I love the part where the americans defended the occupied french beaches against the invading germans… best part of the movie.
Next up: Russians are defending the reichstag from the final german assault.
Honestly its hilarious because I heard allies complaining about how unfair it was to attack the airfield and that they had never won there the day after it came out Almost like its pretty balanced
I got airfield map only once so far aaaand… it wasn´t really pleasant experience to defend.
Due to the hangar roofs I was under multiple artillery fires immediately after spawn with US troops being upon the cap almost immediately. I pretty much felt farmed there, but hey maybe just whole team sucked so badly in that particular case.
I’ve had this experience with both sides.
It’s truly a fantastic experience of constant tinnitus and yet further proof that artillery needs a bit longer cooldown.
That is true, however at least for me main credit goes to the typicaly lackluster hangar roofs that seem to be unable to stop anything larger than rain. So far that map was pure mess for me, but I would like to see it more to get more insight than just first impressions.
First point is artillery hangar.
Second point is a small but quite defensible warehouse, you can easily win there as germany.
Third point is yet another artillery hangar.
Fourth point is an artillery-proof bunker.
Fifth point is once again, an artillery hangar.
Majority of my german wins are on 2nd point, and 5th point.
Where in history it was only AXIS defending Airfields then?
Or the only one defending cities like the mission: Ruins of Vaux
Or defending cities like the mission: Ver-sur-Mer ?
They were defending in France?

So all of you commenting about “historical info” and “realism”, the ONLY historical place where axis was defending is Normandy.
Really where can I found a LIST OF THE NAMES of each mission for each map and the playing style for each one (like defending, hold control point etc)? I couldn’t found it anywhere in the official website.
For airfield, why the developers don’t give us the win/loose ratio to see how balance it is … then we will see.
I found airfield the hardest to attack so far, not unbeatable but you have to think your way trough it. You have to use different tactics for each point. I think its a map that shows something completely new and I like the direction they are going with it. (not saying the map is perfect, its not) If the Germans know what they are doing it is a rough road.
I will bet you if you count all the posts regarding unfairness/unbalance of the last 2 months you will actually get quite a even tally of angry salty internet weirdos on both side of the equation.
In all honesty I think its pretty balanced looking at those.
On this particular one: use your thinking cap Jimbo. If you give the ability to select specific maps to players that would mean you split the player base by the number of maps and we could be waiting a long time for games. No please.
If you let us select game mode on the other hand, we would split it by 2 which would be fine for the trade off. (not 3 since I dont think anyone volunteers to drop on the knife that is assult map mode 24/7)
Also I really dont like the idea of a German counterattack on D-Day. The Germans telling the Allies to hold the attack into Germany and asking them politely to wait until they have build a whole feel that is capable of landing a beach. Not only that ask them again politely to sit in the bunkers of Normandy Why you ask? Because skipper over here thinks that is the winning idea to make him less salty because he cant win.
No it’s not balanced.
To become balance BOTH sides should be able to ATTACK and DEFEND. Not only one.
I am pretty sure the ratio for German wins on Airfield is like 1 to 20+. The developers can post the data .
Balance does not require both sides to attack and defend. Balance means that both sides have even odds of winning. And from what I’ve seen airfield is balanced
Game is fine, balance is 45-55 % and I could not tell which side is where.
The game is not meant to be a symetrical battle like the other shooters out there. There is a clear attacker and a clear defender and the armies are build for that.
Just because you think something is a certain way does not make it true. Yesterday there was a guy doing this exact same discussion but then for the allies. And he was just as stuborn holding on that the world was stupid and the game favors the defender…
And in fact I am playing the lumber mill new mission with Allies now, defending and that’s a lot more balanced than Airfield. Like huge difference.
But again my suggestion is BOTH SIDE play BOTH Defend and Attack missions in ALL missions/maps

Fine that you suggest it. I hope the devs wont listen and on that one it favors the defenders btw. 99% certain they will defend their product since they marketed it as a attacker defender game.
honestly it would be more interesting if the axis spawned closer to their planes o.o’ as it is right now the planes are just stationary targets that everyone shoots at when they cant locate an enemy… i don’t think iv seen one leave the airstrip in all the games iv played iv even tried to get loads of em off the ground but they end up falling apart from 2 or 1 stray bullets hitting them…
They can’t take off. They’re currently not modelled to have lift so they cant leave the ground.
You are coming in my words then. That’s why it’s unbalanced, cause you’re complaining for ONE MAP (Normandy) that Axis can defend properly but the rest maps, which Axis has most of them defending, are OK for you all Why? Because it’s FK unbalanced for Axis
