Ahistorical SVT-38

There is no evidence of the SVT-38 being used as a DMR or Sniper officially in the Red Army. It is viable for the scope of the SVT-40 to be used on the SVT-38 as a makeshift solution to meet demand, but only the SVT-40 was accepted officially as a sniper rifle.

So, the SVT-38 sniper should just be replaced by the SVT-40 sniper in the Battle of Berlin. I don’t believe SVT-38s would be used unofficially in significant numbers as snipers while the USSR is near the brink of victory. I also hope that the Germans don’t get exactly the same snipers in Berlin as they do in Moscow. There is little need for high accuracy in the many CQs of Berlin.

that’s where you draw the line on historical accuracy?

Dude we literally have entire normal trooper squads with automatic FG 42s and Petersen devices that only around 100 were left when WW2 started. There are more Petersen devices in game than existed during the war. This is so minor that it doesn’t even matter.

First we need proper limitations on exotic and less common weapons. Then we need proper progression and campaigns system. Only at that point such complaints won’t be pointless.

There are m2 Hyde that never saw combat
M1/m2 that saw combat first in pacific campaign.
There is mp40/i in berlin campaign
There is jumbo and m24 on normandy. And so on.

Historical accuracy it’s always a shot and miss after almost 80 years of the war.

Should we care?? Some aspects yeah, others I don’t mind having more content in-game, prototype weapons or vehicles that saw little to no combat for the sake of user fun.

As svt38 or 40. Both saw sniper usage. There is a great video on forgotten weapons about this subject where he explains in detail the differences and the sniper usage

We could argue that were soldiers with captured weapons and gear from the enemy’s, we already see it on Berlin soviet panzerfausts, polish bar on axis normandy side…for some this is too much, for others it’s more content to some degree of possibility

would be glorious :japanese_ogre:

Stop crying about your own problems being ignored. We’re all in the same boat, so whataboutism about this other gun or that other gun being unrealistic in a thread about a specific gun is just pointless whining.

Normandy is already a lost cause. That campaign line is just pure fan service.
