it would work. voting wouldnt happen in game lobby. you would select maps that you want in main menu before going into battle. then MM would just tally votes from all players that they have preselected and select least hated map from 20 players.
tell me which other f2p game has ability for premium players to select maps and with f2p players having no choice. absolutely none (at least from current ones). AFAIK even WT has limited veto so they can only remove option of 1-2 maps, but not option to choose 1.
just shows how in touch you are with normal players. map choice is not comfort, it is basic gameplay mechanic. giving that to premium players, but not to f2p will piss off f2p players, specially if you add desertion penalties. there is simply no point in discussing this further with you if you cant see that point.
Yeah as someone that DOES put money towards the game I don’t think F2P players should have LESS control over map selection than me. I don’t get this “I put money towards the game so I am more important” mentality. F2P players are the majority of the playerbase.
Map selection process should be a tick box before you even attempt to join a queue.
You want this or that map? Tick this box.
It should have no bearing on the queue.
I do think premium squads should have special attention in that they are released “finished” with “all” their standard features. And that if they need BR adjustments/tweaks they get it asap/priority…
other than that I dont care.
personally i dont care, cause i am on the way out of this game. my premium finished few weeks ago and unless they do 180 in next update i will probably stop playing game regardless of how the map preference ends up.
whether i was premium or f2p player, i recognize that map choice should be basic gameplay mechanic for all players. if it is not, then it will lead to outcry of f2p community and you will get review bomb on steam with lots of players quitting the game altogether. considering that game already has bad retention rate for new players and veterans are quitting over time, game will die if it is not handled correctly.
exactly. only way it would not have bearing on queue is if it is soft rule. i prefer it implemented with veto map vote, cause people will play map that they dont hate, but will not play map that they hate. e.g. you may get 3 maps with 0 votes and then MM just selects one of them. or if there is no map with 0 votes, then it selects one map from the ones with 1 vote etc.
if you go with vote map selection you may end up with minority of players selecting map that majority hates cause of spread out votes.
if it is hard rule, you will just split queues.
they could just do what BF4 had with a search engine or pick the game mode in what ever map. In BF4 you can pick the game mode and get sent to what ever map they had space for or you can search for a certain map with a certain game mode. Since enlisted already has the custom game tab it can be combined to also have regular matches in it with their dedicated servers for matches so instead of just quick match matchmaking you pick the map and its game mode but having to wait for others to join
