You mention only a small number of people who pay for the game - I think it is larger than you think, because the cost of individual things is quite cheap - but you can spend a lot of money by buying lots of them! Eg BP level is US$0./45, advancing a squad a level is anything from US$0.20 to about US$1.4o IIRC
The expensive ones - like extra slot for campaign (I forget the costs - 1st one is about US$7?? last one is US$19??) - but they last forever in that campaign, and count for both sides.
Premium is US$28/year, etcā¦

But the point is that if you give an ordinary player an additional slot, a player with a premium will not lose anything, but only get the same + 1 slot.
What the premium player has lost is the advantage s/he paid for - this is a real thing - people do not buy premium just because it sounds good to be āpremiumā - they buy an advantage.
Take away the advantage and why would anyone buy premium any more?
For the XP? Maybe - that still exists, but then that is less of an advantage, so should have les cost - and will I get back the difference between thius ālessā premium and what I bought?
You retain the extra slots you can buy when you are not premium - but not hte extra slots you get for being premium.
Where in the description of the award does it say that the player gets a second shot, which no one except the players with the award does not have?(well, also for players with purchased universal slots)
No, itās just that VERY smart people see the problem of the second slot in any case without investing money for each player - an attempt on premium privileges, although there is no reason to worsen it.

That paywall isnāt too high though, like 110 gold and then unlocks at 400/campaign afterwards? Iām unsure about the exact numbers but something like that. (For 1 extra slot with shortest premium time.)
