A potentially too disruptive idea: more offensive manpower

I think this idea can be a new game mode.

Ever since Paratroopers were added, majority of players switched over to the Americans side BECAUSE of maps like D-Day!

Nobody hardly wants to play the defensive side (which the Axis is more frequently than Allies on Normandy), because they are basically guaranteed to lose!

Since the paratroopers came in, I have not seen a SINGLE victory of the Axis side on D-Day. I play both sides and have both sides maxed out.

When I’m on offense, we crush them with ease.
When I’m on defense, no matter what my team tries to do, we get absolutely crushed due to having to attempt to fight paratroopers while the rest of their force pushes straight in.

I’m not! You just seem to be overlooking key elements that have made a difference in the last few months, and have shown that you only wish for it to remain easy on offense.

If there were realism involved, those planes wouldn’t make it that far in the first place! The AA on D-Day was extensive!

You realize that the basis for every major defense is a fortified position from which defender squads operate in and around, to make the “fluid defense” theory work right?

I have several relatives that would have greatly disagreed with you.

As is, the Allies managed what was essentially a surprise attack due to misinformation that the Axis took the bait on. Therefore there were not as many troops there on D-Day itself. It wasn’t lack of equipment or fortification, but rather lack of manpower that cost the Axis the fight.

The fight on the beach still had not just a decent number of deaths, but the wounded count was quite high.

The initial landing itself was a massacre. In the game, the initial landing is what is being portrayed.
Additionally, tank support on D-Day had to reach the beach and disengage their flotation devices before being active. Plus they had to wait for the mat layers to be able to move up the beach.
None of which is portrayed in the game. Which means that the tank support is instead spawned on the beach, rolls forward, and immediately blasts out the only occupied bunker at the start of the game.

Which is another thing you aren’t accounting for:
All the axis forces start out in the one bunker rather than scattered throughout the others, meaning one HE shell clears out majority of defending force instantly.

So, did they switch due to paratroopers or the maps? Please indicate the cause and effect.

Oh boy. Which server and what times?
I assume it is NA, and that place, obviously, is going to be filled with Proud American Patriots. Just, not sure which times. Maybe always.

Playing on EU servers, I’ve seen axis victories, and I’ve seen allies victories. So… nope, can’t reproduce Your issue, sir.

Western allied AA was superior to axis.
Rheintochter SAMs were not present in 1944. Actually, they weren’t present in enough numbers anyway.
Either way, the airforce has more impact on actual planes knocked out, and by 1944 axis didn’t really have much of airforce left…

It wouldn’t have mattered if it was successful or not, by 1944, the fate was already sealed, and D-Day would have happened one way or another. It was just a matter of time (whether the axis managed to last a few more months or not, maybe a year) and losses (whether a few thousand, maybe million, more or less). I doubt that losing D-Day would simply end WA’s attempts to win the war - worst case, they probably would try to toss an atomic bomb on Berlin or some other German city. I am not sure if Germans would be able to complete Rheintochter SAMs to shoot the B-29s… Maybe WAs would also reverse engineer strategic rockets, if that was the case.

And I’m going to disagree a bit here - axis didn’t have the important equipment - not enough luftwaffe to contest US airforce was an important factor. Therefore, lack of equipment was an issue on the axis side. Not to mention the quality - lot of folks defending the beach were ostruppen and other 2nd or 3rd grade folks.

Landing on Omaha beach was… just one of the landings, and was the one causing the most casualties for the WAs.

Getting back to the game, So, it seems lot of folks in that bunker are bots.

So, most likely bots or… relatively clueless folks, or folks rooting for Germany to lose. Not really surprised if it’s NA server.

I play on both NA and EU servers. Depending on the day, it can be different times.

The Axis on Normandy has more maps that are exclusively defense for them. Making it more likely for them to be on defense.

Paratroopers are more effective when used by attacking forces. Not to mention the imbalance of base weaponry that the American paratroopers get in comparison to Axis Paratroopers.

So, because such a powerful squad was introduced that especially benefitted attackers, more people switched to the side that is attacking more often.

I find this to be hard to believe that axis had no wins on Normandy Campaign.

There is one map, that beach invasion, where it’s exclusive allied offensive, meaning that it is only possible to be axis on the attack in the custom battles with mixed factions setting.

Well, I suppose I can find it convincing enough…

  • D-Day (Invasion)
  • Ver-Sur-Mer (Invasion)
  • Ver-Sur-Mer (Assault)

3 maps.
Which if I’m not mistaken makes about 15- 20% of games approximately.

Which means considerably more chance of getting axis defense missions, and most definitely the most major due to map design.
