As long as the illness (cause) is dealt with BEFORE implementing punitive measures against desertion (symptoms) I’m okay with.
Not the other way around.

I’m all for penalizing deserters, but the underlying reasons that they desert needs to be dealt with beforehand. From what I’ve taken note of reasons of why people are deserting has yet to even be acknowledged, or in some cases has been blatantly ignored. It’s just going to make the players that do desert feel their trapped on one hand get curb stomped then clubed like baby seals and on the other hand quit and be punished with something that could potentially harm them in the long run, it’s hard to say without knowing what these punishments would be.
Either way both issues need to be solved, stopping deserters and fixing the issues why people desert. The latter point needs to be dealt with first because if it’s not it can have unforeseen consequences on the health of the game. The same can be said of the mass desertion, but steps must be taken to get to this point.
Wouldn’t it be far better to give people incentive’s to stay, rather then punishing them for leaving? Why is punishment the only option people seem to consider? Penalties would have no effect on whether I chose to quit a game or not, and I doubt it would deter anyone else from bailing as well.
Incentives to stay would keep some from bailing…Depending on the incentives
