one soldier with a meta gun is worth about … 5 Soldiers with a semi auto or bolt action I would say, so the first thing that would come to my mind is giving squads that aren’t Assaulters something that would make them worth picking, like for example:
- give Trooper squads more active soldiers, basically a Zerg squad (remove the ability to bring select fire weapons)
-Sniper squads a buff like “no kill cam”
-MG squads even less movement dispersion, or better quality of life stuff, like automatically getting the bipod bonus when prone ( still not worth using them right now, only for the HMG)
-allow AT squads to build AT guns
-allow Pioneer squads to build HMGs
-allow artillery squads to deploy more smoke
-allow planes to also drop smoke
However, do not nerf Assaulters, their gameplay overall is fine, its just that the alternatives suck.

only first is great but it’s so late in campaign that you will soon get mp43/1 so it doesn’t matter since they are superior in most encounters except really CC (5-15m), mp40 and mp38 are literally the same and they are only good (not great) in Normandy, in Moscow/Berlin all smgs are inferior to soviet smgs there was a reason why German soldiers always picked up ppsh-41 and preferred them over their mediocre mp40s because they were better in every single way except in attention to detail while producing them since drum mags could only fit specific examples of ppsh which was a huge fault, germans resolved that with with adapting them for Wehrmacht with MP 41(r) and MP 717(r). It was so popular with Axis that it was their 2nd most popular smg used in war.

I do not know. With the amount of games I’ve played, I’ve noticed that the most SMGs are in Berlin, and the rest of the campaign is sharply varied.

Normandy is m2 vs fg/stg
Tunisia and Pacific have large maps, therefore bolties are more useful.
If you have this perks on your soldiers now, you may be compensated by the future currency which is sliver, when the new soldier perk system is launched. No matter is this particular perk is kept or deleted, the effort to choose a optimum soldier will lose value because new system allow chose perk by player in any available ones instead of randomly now, but developers should come up with an idea about how to reward or compensate that effort.
Can’t wait to pick perks again for thousands of troops again…

I think they will keep default as unchanged from now, but we will be able to choose the optimum ones without need of retraining them for a lot of times until the wanted perk appear in the list of 3 generated randomly.
In city maps like Stalingrad and Berlin, its much better to have as many SMGs as possible with all the CQB on the streets, inside buildings and even the tractor factory itself. SMGs don’t help much in open maps like some maps in Tunisia and Pacific.
Also SMGs are useless against tanks where some SMG squad members are forced to bring explosive packs or TNT.

Why should players be compensated at all? They got to use the perk for years. That’s it; that’s the compensation for using it. They get to pick a different perk.
It sounds like the perk system is going to be changing significantly; so it’s a perfect time to take out broken perks like +35% vitality, and put in new perks that aren’t considered necessary.
It was so “popular” because they captured large stockpiles of it.
The easiest reason why most people use submachine guns and automatic rifles is because they have warped minds with games like BF, CS, CoD and they have habits that guns need to have a lot of pellets in the clip and fire fast, and ideally the gun should have no recoil .
Its funny because one of the things Enlisted does best is rifle combat. Cant really think of any other game thats as satisfying as using a Kar98 or a SMLE III

It’s not fun to play against “good” console player that constantly spams bolt actions to completely abuse console aim assist. That’s way bigger problem than smgs lol.
Consoles shouldn’t have any aim assists, obv fps games just arent made for console controllers.

Fact that you aren’t comfortable with aim assist doesn’t mean other players aren’t able to abuse it.
I played against this kind of person few weeks ago. It really felt completely unfair, basically playing against cheater.

I donno. 5000 or so matches as computer player, and I just don’t find it an issue.
I die, I spawn, I move on. I don’t try to find excuses for why they killed me. And complain they got the kill because of a aimassist or what not.
As for the console part, yes, it did demolish more than help me at all
