1945 event - Manchuria

Bro I’m adding that mechanic idea to my one day master post (I’m not done annoying the community about this lol)! It could get players that were previously apprehensive about vehicles because of how claustrophobic and slow it feels for noobs; higher pen rate, which you are right with these super lights and could be the fun gimmick specific to something temporary and smaller scale like an event. Honestly, just the dialogue in this thread alone give the devs enough ideas for a commemorative event dedicated to Manchuria or Khalkhin Gol. It is a big event in Russian history too, over coming an old rival, so to speak

That would be nice, but watch the devs screw it up somehow if they try.

Wrong section. Moved

Literally, this. Instead of/alongside doing the same thing over and over like Iwo Jimas and Normandies, would be awesome to see new things.

Event/mini campaign/part of the Pacific campaign/shock operation - that’s up to the devs.
Either Khalkhin Gol or Manchuria - both can be done. USSR fought against Japan and it’s a shame no one ever showcases that.

Introduce only stuff that can be balanced e.g.:
Mosin vs Arisaka
PPD/PPSh vs Type 100
DP vs Type 97
BT vs Chi-Ha
Yak vs Zero
etc without T-34 and IS-2.

I would play the hell out this event/mini campaign.

Hey  you really knocked it out of the park with this in depth feedback, thank you! The proposed balancing is really not that hard and I think they could introduce different vehicles for a smaller event other than tanks, such as armored cars, horses, Duwks , etc !

@1942786 Hopefully this is a period in history the dev team could consider whether as a campaign or temporary victory event !

My bad ! Yo, you have been around for a while by the looks of it, what do you think of this idea since you are here ? lol
Any and all feedback on this is welcome

Thet soviets did not use BTs at that part in the war, the weakest you can go is the T-80, then maybe a T-34 76 and then a T-34 85 and by that point the Japanese tanks can’t keep up even with the stuff left for the defence of the home island. Furthermore, the Japanese would never use Zeros in Manchuria, it was run by the IJA so it would be Ki 61 or Ki 84s. Finally, the demand for such a campaign is low as popular perception of the war is of the Soviets doing the brunt of the war in Europe, and the Americans taking the brunt of the War in the pacific. These shape the market and demand for such products. Asking for Kalkhin Gol or Manchuria would be like asking for the Battle of Aachen or The Sigfried line. Sure, there will be people who care, but not enough. Anybody who knows who knows the market for WW2 shooters and understands economics will tell you that if the a Pacific Campaign is to be added, the best way to appease the most people is by doing the Americans.

Fedorov avtomat also wasn’t used in Berlin, Jumbos weren’t at Omaha beach and PPK-42 was made as a single testing item, it’s not like that stops the devs from adding them.

I know the most “Hollywood” image of the Pacific is US vs Japan, but personally I would love to see a fresh take at the whole Japan the hegemon of Asia project and see them fight against not only US but also USSR, UK, Anzac and China.

It’s not just Hollywood, It’s the perception of your average customer regardless of nationality. Demand for the Americans in the Pacific is about as high as demand for something like Stalingrad. Are they both overplayed? Sure, but it’s what the market wants. In the face of the market, your individual opinion is irrelevant.

Thanks for your kind words. /s
Luckily, we are here at the forums expressing our personal opinions and not doing market resarch as shareholders.

I know multi-faction campaign is very unlikely as that would require some major re-engineering of the campaign system, but at least an event or mini campaign with limited arsenal without going into OP territory (see modern conflict event for reference with limited setup of squads) would be cool.

I’m just telling you how likely you are to get what you want, which is highly unlikely. I get wanting niche campaigns, i want a Hong Kong campaign myself. However, I have made peace with the fact that it is probably never going to happen.

A multi faction campaign wouldn’t work the way you are thinking of, especially not in the pacific. The pacific is so vast that much of the combat could literally be separated by spaces as large as Europe itself. Events of this nature are also probably unlikely, as they appear to be places where the devs allow themselves to escape the confines of World War 2.

Moscow is like a underepresented campaign (most people would say Stalingrad, when you ask them about the Eastern Front). And I think, Moscow only has so much content because they dont just include gear used during the advance to Moscow but elsewhere as well (mainly looking at the T-50). And Moscow already started to suck the moment they added the PPSh and the latest levels feel like copy+paste. Dont really know how Japan vs. USSR in 1945 could work without fantasy and if people already suggest removing tanks/ coming with tanks from the 30’s for the Soviets to make them at least not OP… I dont know.

Yeah, you either have to really kneecap the Soviets if you want Manchuria or literally make up tanks for the Japanese.

I’ve heard discussion ( so take with a big grain of salt) that nearly half of the player base speaks Russian as a first language and makes sense when you looks the number of weekly forum posts on the main page. I wonder what a lot of them would want to play too? I gotta imagine a decent portion knows about the USSR Far East campaigns and would buy into them. Wont they have to knee cap the Americans as well?

Keep in mind boys I am mostly thinking of these battles as more like temporary event battles, that is a key theme to my suggestion  Having said that, my ideal Pacific USA Vs Japan campaign would be Guadalcanal because we were still using Still using Springfield’s and didn’t have total air superiority. Or Hong Kong.

I’ve never heard that rumor, but I doubt it’s true because then the other half has to consist of literally every other Asian language and European language, and if you know the Asian playerbase, that math doesn’t add up.

For the Americans, no because the Americans have a lot of equipment like the M8 Greyhound and the LVT which can be used to balance out their later campaigns. It’s actually the reason I think a later war campaign would be more balanced, as the American armored vehicle program is more fleshed out, and has access to things that won’t just stomp the Japanese. Also keep in mind the Americans didn’t field their best tanks in the pacific, meaning the best tank will probably be only an M4a2 with a 76mm, which while not exactly perfectly matched to a Chi Nu or a Chi To, it will work well enough to be considered balance if they appear late enough.

I know there’s like 1% probability, just thinking that besides the usual island hopping part of the Pacific, or ‘they attacked Pearl Harbor so we pushed them back’ narrative it would be great to see for once ‘the bigger picture’ or the Grand Pacific if you will.

Just how Germany regarded all of Europe to be their ultimate empire, Japan had some ‘interesting’ ideas about their place in Asia, i.e. controlling everything from lake Baikal to the shores of Australia, being at the head of a pan-asian Empire:

So I believe it would be really interesting to see battles fought all across these Japanese expansion plans: from incursions into Soviet Siberia, to coastal China, Indochina, the Philippines, etc.

Disclaimer: I don’t think this will happen ingame, but just to speculate, maybe the 4 allied nations would have 10 levels each - China, USSR, UK, USA vs Japan’s eventual 40 levels.
E.g. level 1-10 is Chinese stuff, level 11-20 is Soviet stuff and so on.

Or, even better, would be cool if by unlocking a Mosin squad you’d also automatically unlock its ‘clone’ squads with SMLE (UK) and Springfield (USA) - so dependig on the map loaded Ivan Chernov with SVT (Khalkhin Gol) becomes John Black (Saipan) with Garand.

After all, if and when we ever see the Pacific, it will most likely be Japan vs USA, but at the same time when the Japanese assets are ready, it’s only a matter of desire and passion to use either Moscow 1941 or Berlin 1945 assets to come up with some Japan vs USSR action for example as event or mini-campaign of 10 levels.

Is it that hard not getting Manchuria?

I understand this perspective very well.

Manchuria would be AWESOME and most likely the Russian player base would definitely have nothing anything against it either.

Quite the contrary? It is very overlooked front-line in Russia too, the western front has drained all the glory from the WWII.

I have also noticed that the Russian player base on this game is HUGE, therefore asking their opinion as well should definitely be worth while?

I like WWII FPS:s just as much as anyone else out there, however after 20 years of playing WWII first person shooters I have to say that I would be more than happy to see something completely new from the same theme and on a very good game platform just like Enlisted is?

For example Manchuria?

No one else has made that before, USSR VS. Japan in WWII as a FPS?

And this game has a huge Soviet fan-base with plenty of Russians manning it? I mean, it is no or never kind of moment and the idea is very good.

Too good to pass.

Even Burma and the Japan VS. British would be somewhat new?

We have all already seen U.S VS. Japan so many times before… I remember when THAT was “New”, Yeah, that is how old I am?

The fourth campaign with the Soviets (and probably with Berlin equipment) and such an unfair balance bs (especially tanks) that the Veekay dude needed to remove the T-34 (let alone the IS and KVs) and replace it with the BT to give the Japanese a chance to not lose all the time. But why should someone play a campaign with Berlin stuff minus tanks?
And we are not done yet. The Type 100 is a more or less fine smg, but the PPSh is still better. And what SMGs should we use for them before the Type 100? The MP28 and the Austrian MP28 aka MP34? Not the MP28 for the third time now. And the MP28 isn’t really a good SMG against its current counterparts PPD and Sten. LMGs? The Type 99 is good but at the end, it is just a Japanese Bren and I don’t know if it is on par with the DP, let alone the DT. And the others Type 11 and Type 96 are worse and all Japanese MGs suffer from having a less powerful bullet. I do not know what advantage they can offer for asymmetrical balance. Their low rof? Well. The DT is already easy to use. AT gear… if the Soviets get Fäuste again, then the Japanese are done, as they only have the Type 4, which wasn’t used in Manchuria, and captured M1 Bazookas, which are inferior.
Then let’s make idk just 20 level… no. After 20 levels, the Soviets would get bored to kill bots only all the time and switch the campaign.
Then captured guns? But why do we play Japan if we have to use American and British guns to be competitive?
I know… Japan has a lot of rifles… but you don’t let a “rifle-main” nation fight against the nation whose mains spam the PPSh 24/7 and otherwise use Berlin equipment.

Like, I do get the idea, but let’s be realistic. Nobody, who is sane, would play the Japanese… in case he is actually interested in Manchuria. Manchuria doesn’t offer anything new for the Soviets, and the “oh boi, Japanese gear” effect is not strong enough to make me suffer for some Soviet mains.

Step 1: as expected, US vs Japan campaign is being released gradually.
Step 2: now that we have Japanese stuff ready, devs might add Japan vs USSR, Japan vs UK events/mini campaigns, e.g.:

a) Khalkhin Gol 1939 (event or ~10 levels with fast progression)
Mosin vs Arisaka, PPD box mag (25 rounds) vs Type 100 (30 rounds), DP-27 (37 rounds) vs Type 96 (30 rounds), sniper Mosin vs sniper Arisaka, RM-38 vs Type 89 mortars, ROKS-2 vs Type 93 flamethrowers, BT-7, T-26 & BA 3/6/10/20 vs Type 95 Ha-Go, Type 89 I-Go, Type 97 Chi-Ha & Type 93/Model 25 tanks and armored cars, Soviet plane vs Japanese plane (don’t have a PhD in WT so whatever works for history and balance here);
image
image

b) early war UK vs Japan battle (Hong Kong, Singapore etc) (event or ~10 levels with fast progression)
British stuff vs similar Japanese stuff;
image

с) China vs Japan battle (event or ~10 levels with fast progression)
mish-mash Chinese stuff vs similar Japanese stuff, unique Chinese urban and countryside scenery
